on nursery - Ward guest intern call on electives- 0-1 night shifts per month
• Upper Level Residents:
- Wards: 2 calls/block + two 2 week night shift
- PICU, NSCU, ED: 12 hour shifts - SSR’s: L&D late shifts, 1-2 ward day
shifts, 0-1 overnight call/month - Jeopardy: available by pager (home
call)
On Call

• Cap of 16 patients per 2 intern team (8 patients/intern) • Patient redistributed to other teams if at cap or signed off to
“non-team care” (not followed by residents)

• Radiology: - Pediatric radiologist 7 days/week, available by pager for emergencies
after hours. - On-call radiologist reads films at night.
• Ancillary Staff: - 24 hrs/day: nurses, RT, pharmacists, ward clerks - 7 days/week (pager at night): SLP/OT/PT, SW, dieticians, lactation
consultant, IT support, translation services

meetings and conferences and they are reimbursed for travel by the program
Resident Research and QI
• Grand Rounds - all PGY2 and PGY3 residents, under the guidance of a faculty advisor
• M&M Conferences - at least once during the PGY2 or PGY3 year, under guidance of Dr. Shilpa Patel or Dr. Lynn Iwamoto
• Journal Club - all residents, once a year
Resident Presentations
• Assigned advisor for all 3 years, able to switch based on interests
• Optional resident-selected mentor from faculty and clinical faculty volunteers
