Introduction Insufficient reservoir pressure may lead to low

fluid production rates in a well.

Artificial lift refers to the use of artificial means to increase the flow of liquids in a production well.

Generally this is achieved by the use of a mechanical device in the well or by injecting gas.

Introduction

Some types of Artificial lift systems:

Hydraulic Pumping Systems (HPS) Electric Submersible Pumps (ESP) Gas Lift Sucker Rod Pumps

Sucker Rod Pump It is one of the oldest and most widely used production method for onshore oil

wells.

Depending on the size of the pump, it generally produces 5 - 40 litres of liquid at each stroke.

Pump size is also determined by the depth and weight of the oil to remove.

Golden Horse-Head Sucker Rod Pumping Model

Why Build Up This Model ?

Developed for teaching purposes to improve the understanding of students on oil production enhancement mechanisms.

To inspire students to innovate and create experimental models.
