I am going to stick with theUnity themes and I got a timelyreminder that these topics were

chosen from the list of 'things Si-lent Unity gets called on to prayfor' and nothing to do with EricButterworth and 'The PowerWithin' except of course that onceyou realize the power you havewithin you and understand exactlyhow it is you can pray your way towhere you want to be. It also helpsto have others praying with youespecially if you find it hard to

hold the belief you are praying for.Believe me I know how hard it isto hard to pray for instance 'to beand see your self as pain free' whenyou are suffering from either ar-thritic knees or the surgery afterthe new knees have been inserted.Sometimes it seems the powerwithin has deserted you or at leastdecides to take it's own sweet time.

no time that you are aware of andSpiritualUnderstanding is beingOK with that too. It's really about,as Byron Katie so eloquentlyteaches, the ability to 'Love WhatIs. If I had spent the last ten tofifteen years being frustrated, angryor focusing only on the pain in myknees (and yes it was that long) Iwould have had ten to fifteen mis-erable years and been a pain to

everyone around me. Now I didn'tknow all that time about LovingWhat Is but I sure knew, to dowhat I could and get over the rest. Isurely prayed to be pain free and Isurely prayed to be open to all theways that, that could be achieved.The result was eventually newknees but I was led to all kinds ofother answers before that solutionwas open to me. All of those an-

swers gave me Freedom from painat the time or at least bearable painwhich I guess was also an answer!

Some of us are given apparentlyharder issues to spiritually under-stand. The murder or abuse of achild or other loved one is of awhole different order from painfulknees and frequently described asan unforgivable act. Yet how willwe achieve peace unless we do

forgive even the most heinous acts.When Jesus talked of 'turning theother cheek' he was not....let mesay that again, he was NOT sayingoffer your self for further abuse.His audience would have under-stood the idiomatic language he

was using as meaning somethingaltogether different from the literalmeaning we immediately think weunderstand. But what happens ifyou 'turn the other cheek' or 'lookanother way'? You get a differentperspective, you see it differently.And that is the meaning Jesus wasintending his audience to get andthey, speaking the same language,got it! It's only as it got translated

from the oral tradition to the Greekand Latin and then to the Englishthat the meaning got lost. So as weenter the season ofPeace, Hopeand Joy let us remember how wemaintain those qualities in all sea-sons through Forgiveness andLove.

Nona Lovell Brooks was de-scribed as a prophet of modernmystical Christianity, she was a

leader in the New Thought move-ment and a founder of the Churchof Divine Science. Dr. EmmettFox, who was ordained into theministry by Brooks, referred to heras his "spiritual mother."

I feel compelled by the immedi-ate past to quote these two meta-physical teachers and let you expe-rience the peace and joy of theirwords.

In nature, spring is a time of re-birth as the earth shakes off itswinter freeze. Mother Nature be-gins to awaken--the smell of fresh,living earth warming and readyingfor new life. The axis of the earthis increasing its tilt toward the en-ergy of the sun, bringing an in-crease of warmth and light. Per-sonally, springtime is a time after-birth, renewal and transformation.It is a time when we begin toawaken as we focus our thoughtsmore on God, Spring occurs forus when we open our heart and ourmind to the presence of God; whenwe shift our thoughts from lackand limitation, beliefs that areholding us back from the ability tosee and experience our divine po-tential. Resur-rection consciousness is the con-sciousness that raises us from thenow to the Eternal. The worldneeds resurrection. Just as therewas a first century resurrection, letthere be a twenty-first centuryresurrection. This resurrectiontime will be brought about by thespirit of consecration in our heartand in our mind. Guru:

With deep and heartfelt gratitudeI wish to share a few words ineulogy for my recently transitionedteacher, Dr. David R. Hawkins,MD, PhD, of Sedona, AZ. Hepassed peacefully Sept. 19th, 2012,at the age of 85. Having been ACourse in Miracles student formany years before being intro-duced to Dr. Hawkins, I felt astrong and intuitive attraction tohim, his teachings, and his overallstyle and demeanor. I found thepopular edict when the student isready, the teacher will appear tobe completely true!

One of my favorite teachings heverified as true is the exact time ofones death is predetermined at the

time of ones birth. From thisteaching one may no longer feardeath or hesitate in living as full alife as possible. All of the worri-some details of ones bodily healthand time of transition has alreadybeen predetermined! All items,people, and situations in life arealways PERFECT! Doc was aman who truly lived a full life de-spite close to 80 painful bodily

ailments he actively sought tradi-tional and alternative remedies forthroughout his life. A detailedobituary may be found at his web-site, www.veritaspub.com, underannouncements.

Most of Docs young life wasspent reading books after beingtold to stay off the sports field dueto his small frame. He chose toread the Great Books of the West-

ern World, which included all theancient philosophers. He alsoadded a detailed study of all relig-ions. He made a goal to read abook a day and actually did this formany years.

Doc had many incredible spiri-tual experiences throughout hislife, including many near-death,out-of-body experiences. He alsoexperienced the natural need toleave the world of career and socialcircles behind as he ascended up-ward on a rare higher spiritualpath. After years of egoless livinghe had naturally become a yet un-known mystic and spiritual master.It was his wife who persuaded himto share his spiritual insights with

the world by writing books, lectur-ing, and overall serving all of hu-manity by who he had become.This edict is yet another one ofDocs unique teachings. However,he also taught it is not necessary todo this in such a formal way, butinstead to merely serve humanityby dedication to a spiritual path ofones choice and allowing all elseto be taken care of by the Lord.

His ultimate teaching is to encour-age his students to do as he hasdone and live your life like a liv-ing prayer with constant personalsurrender in favor of the Lordswill.

Docs biggest claim to fame wasdeveloping the powerful and popu-lar Map of Consciousness. Itportrays the evolution of humanconsciousness in the form of a nu-

meric table, from the lowernega-tive, egoic, fearful, and animalisticman, to the higher formsposi-tive, non-dualistic, loving, saintly,and beyond.

For many, myself included, histeachings reach deep within thebeing and irreversibly change onefor the better. For many years hetoured and lectured all over theworld, including various Unity

churches. Doc reveals himself inhis recorded lectures to be humble,sensitive, highly intelligent, spiri-tually gifted, whimsical, speakingspontaneously from the heart andconstantly chuckling at the beautyand love of life in all its variousforms. He taught formally as wellas by personal example that kind-ness and gentleness are the numberone attributes of an enlightenedbeing.
