UNIQUENESS OF HUMAN LANGUAGE

PRESENTER’S

Muhammad Talha

Mahr Tanzeel

What is Language ?

Pre-theoretically we all have a

good idea what a language is .

The first thing comes to mind is

our own native language.

Language is an art of

communication , the desires

and expressions to others . It’s

been serving the man kind

from several years

Human Language has two

types verbal and non verbal.

Verbal refers to as one that

is conveyed through words

Non verbal refers to as language

of expression

Human language also has complex

compositional syntax . The meanings

of our sentences are composed from the

meaning of the constituent parts (e.g

the words)

Human language is recursion is

discussed , and related to these

features of learned symbols and

compositional syntax.

Language makes science possible, by

making available available a vast

web of concepts at least partly

defined in terms of words.

Language helps the human in

development into what they

are today.

Human through the use of

language are so able to make an

another language we know as

machine language

Human Language is qualitatively

different from animals

communication

Human Language is unique in

comparison to other forms of

communication , such as those used by

non-human

Human Language is also

unique in having the property of

recursivity

Human language is open-ended and

productive, meaning that it allows

humans to produce a vast assortment of

utterances from a finite set of elements,

and to create new words and sentences

Human language is based on a dual

code, where a finite number of

meaningless elements (e.g. sounds, letters

or gestures) can be combined to form

units of meaning (words and sentences)

Human languages also differ from

animal communication systems in that they

employ grammatical and semantic

categories, such as noun and verb, present

and past, which may be used to express

exceedingly complex meanings

Human language is also the only known

natural communication system whose

adaptability may be referred to as

modality independent. This means that it

can be used not only for communication

through one channel or medium, but

through several.

Human language is also unique in

being able to refer to abstract concepts

and to imagined or hypothetical events

as well as events that took place in the

past or may happen in the future.

Human language makes it

possible for large groups to

combine for a common

purpose.

Language makes it

possible to theorize about

language itself.
