Health Education:First Aid for Nosebleeding

• Goal: To provide basic health education regarding the primary management of nosebleeding for grade 4 students

• Audience: Grade 4 students from section 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14

• Length of Lecture and Demonstration: 15 minutes per classroom

Content:1. Lean forward and bow down. Never

tilt the head as it may cause blood clot and aspiration of blood.

2. Pinch the cartilage of the nose using the thumb and index finger

3. Spit out blood in the mouth and don’t swallow.

4. Report the incidence to any adult, mainly your teacher, parent or school nurse.

5. If the bleeding persists, refer to the nearest clinic or health facility.

Evaluation: Return demonstration by the students of the steps in providing first aid for epistaxis.Positive Reinforcement: Giving prizes for the participants.
