PokerTypes and origins

Texas Hold’Em

• Texas Hold’Em is the most popular form of American poker.

• Players are dealt 2 pocket cards and wait for five community cards to be dealt.

• There are four rounds of betting.

• Players win by making the highest hand out of a combination of their hole and the community cards.

Different Poker Hands

Omaha• Omaha is another type of

Texas Hold’Em.• The community cards are

immediately revealed.• There are 4 hole cards.• To win, players must make

the best hand out of two of their hole cards and three of the community cards.

5-Card Draw/7-Card Stud

• Initially, Players are dealt five cards

• The player can choose to trade up to three of them for other cards

• As with all other poker games, the one ending with the highest hand wins.

• Players are dealt three face up cards and four face down cards.

• Players must try to make the best 5-card hand from their 7 cards in order to win.

7-Card Stud5-Card Draw

Follow the Queen

• Follow the Queen is a version of 7-Card Stud where face up queens are wildcards

• When a queen is dealt face up, the next card to be flipped and those of the same rank are also wild cards

• If no queens are flipped, then there are no wildcards that round.

High/Low Chicago• The Player with the highest hand only

wins half the pot.• In high Chicago, the other half of the

pot is won by the player with the highest face-down spade.

• In low Chicago, the other half of the pot is won by the player with the lowest face-down spade.

• They both can be played simultaneously with other forms of poker. ^Chicag

The Bitch

• This is another 7-Card Stud variant • In this version of poker, the queen of spades is “the bitch”• If the queen of spades is dealt face up, all of the cards are

taken, shuffled and the players who had not folded when the queen was dealt are dealt new cards.

• The pot is split between the player with the highest hand and the player who has the queen of spades in the whole (if any).

Countdown• Players start with five face down cards.• Each round, players can choose to

replace up to 3 cards in the first round, 2 in the second round and 1 card in the third.

• Players pay whenever they want to replace a card and that money goes into the pot.

• In each round, the price to replace a card doubles.
