The State Registration Chamber was created in June 1994 by the Ministry of Economy in order to ease trade activities for local and foreign companies.

The Russian Trade Register deals with the registration process of all types of companies, national companies or foreign investors who want to open companies in Russia.

The Functions of the Trade Register in Russia

The main function of the Trade Register is to handle the Register of Commercial Organizations for:

companies with foreign investments in Russia,

companies in the gas and energy domain,

all foreign investments that exceed 100 million rubles.

Other Functions of the Trade Registry in Russia

Its other functions include:

it offers accreditation to branch and representative offices in Russia,

it preserves and updates the Uniform State Register of foreign entities,

it records and updates Russian companies with investments abroad,

it keeps records on international agreements and economic collaboration with foreign authorities.

Company Registration with the Russian Trade Register

In order to register a company with the Register Chamber, the owner or a legal representative of the company can submit the application in person or online.

The Russian Trade Register will issue the certificate of registration within three weeks.

Verifying a Company with the Trade Register in Russia

Information about companies is available on the Trade Register’s online portal and can be attained by simply introducing the company’s name, registration number or tax registration number.

This information includes the registration date, if any changes have been made in the company’s management and if all business licenses have been obtained.

The Trade Register created a guide for investors called the Handbook of Foreign Investment, which serves as a guide through the Russian legislation.

The handbook also offers pointers about the types of Russian companies, the documentation required to register a company and the taxes legal entities must pay.
