TOPS/TOPS TECH Information

2019-2020

TOPS SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

• Complete the TOPS University Diploma

• Opportunity Award: Receive a 2.5 GPA in the 19 Core

Courses for TOPS and a 20 (may go up depending on State

average) on the ACT

• Performance Award: Receive a 3.0 GPA in the 19 Core

Courses for TOPS and a 23 on the ACT

• Honors Award: Receive a 3.0 GPA in the 19 Core Courses for

TOPS and a 27 on the ACT

• ACT scores are based on the state average. The

state average for the 2020 graduates should be

posted in October 2019. The current state

average is a 20. The ACT score may go up if the

average goes up, but it will never go lower than

20.

• REMEMBER: A student DOES NOT have to be

in the NISH Honors Program to qualify for any of

the TOPS Scholarships!!

• Must enroll as a first-time freshman by the fall

semester following the first anniversary of high

school graduation. For example, if a student

graduates in May of 2020, he or she has until

Fall of 2021 to enroll.

• For the Class of 2021 and beyond, the

Performance Award will have a GPA of 3.25

in the 19 Core Courses and the Honors

Award will have a GPA of 3.5 in the 19 Core

Courses

• Eligible Institutions: Louisiana Public and LAICU

(Ex. Tulane, Xavier, etc.—pays the average of

the public institutions) postsecondary institutions

and certain cosmetology and proprietary schools

• The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student

Aid) must be completed. Students and Parents

may begin to complete the FAFSA on October 1

of the Senior Year. An FASID must be applied for

by the student and the parent

Core Units

• Acquire a 17 or higher on the ACT or a

Silver Level (Level 4 Composite) on the

ACT WorkKeys System

• Must enroll as a first-time freshman by the

fall semester following the first anniversary

of high school graduation

• The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student

Aid) must be completed.

• Students and Parents may begin to complete the

FAFSA on October 1 of the Senior Year.

• An FASID must be applied for by the student and the

• Once in college, student must meet renewal

requirements
