Upcoming Events
10 August, 2017
In spite of the rain and days of dreary weather our children remain positive
and committed to finding every possible moment to enjoy school, especially
those who play basketball outside! Thank you to our coaches who make such
amazing sporting opportunities possible. There are lots of exciting activities
happening, so we will endeavour to share these with you and the photos of
the events as and when they happen.
Electives are going well with lots of very excited children the first week! I look
forward to seeing how their projects turn out.
Are you a new parent and would like to join our Friends of Our School group to
support our school community? This is a parent group who meet monthly and
look after fundraising as well as additional events, such as discos for the chil-
dren. Talk to Mrs Jones in Room 11 if you would like to know more.

Our senior students have a unique
opportunity!!
Some of our teachers, like most teachers across the country, registered for the
educational resource for the Rugby League World Cup and went into a draw to
win a very unique opportunity. Our school was drawn out of 600 other schools to
have 17 senior students run out onto the field with the teams wearing a special
strip. Tickets for the 17 are paid for and also some adult tickets. The students will
be able to go back into the tunnel with the teams.
Dates are yet to be confirmed but will either be Saturday the 4th Nov (Samoa Vs
Tonga) or Saturday the 11th Nov (NZ vs Tonga) played at Hamilton Stadium.
Students who are selected will need to be transported to and from the venue
but more details will follow once selection is made. Very exciting!
The news report:
Students from14 primary and intermediate schools will accompany players onto
the pitch for the seven New Zealand-hosted RLWC2017 matches to be played
across Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch in October and
November.
The other 14 schools to win this unique opportunity are Redoubt North,
Edmonton Primary School, Whenuapai School, Star of the Sea School
(Auckland), Amisfield School, Leamington School, Tauranga Intermediate, Te
Kura Kaupapa Maori o Toku Mapihi Maurea (Hamilton), Avalon Primary School,
Pukeatua Primary School (Wellington),

Campus, Temuka Primary School and
Halswell School (Christchurch).
Seventeen pupils from each of the winning
schools will get to walk out with teams
playing in RLWC2017 matches in New
Zealand.
Over 600 schools entered the competition
by registering for a RLWC2017 Education
Resource developed in conjunction with
New Zealand Rugby League.

From Forest View High School
Board of Trustees
On the 22nd of July Bronson Curtis played in a Basketball Tournament
for Waikato Country Basketball (WCBA) under11.
His team won the tournament. At the completion of the tournament
Bronson was selected for the Tournament team. This is where the 5
best players from the under 11s are selected. Then Bronson went on
to be selected as the Most Valued player for the Tournament. This is a
true testament to his dedication to basketball. He trains hard and
continues to push himself. He always gives his best!
Congratulations, Bronson. We are very proud of you and all you have
achieved!!
Super Stars!
