Background Information
Tijs Michiel Verwest, known as DJ Tiesto, was born January 17th 1969 in Breda, Netherlands.
His music is in the trance genre, and has been producing music since 1994.
Rise to Fame
Tiesto first gaining notice in the late 1990s as a world-class DJ.
Tiesto's first studio album, “In My Memory”, was released in 2001.
It produced five major hits - Dallas 4PM, Flight 643, Obsession, Lethal Industry and Suburban Train.
#1 DJ Worldwide
According to DJMag, Tiesto was the number 1 DJ in the world from 2001 until 2004.
In 2004, Tiesto released his second studio album titled “Just Be”.
The album contained his first #1 hit in the albums single “Traffic”.
2004 Athens Olympics
A career highlight was when Tiesto performed at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
He was the first DJ to ever perform at an Olympic event.
Present Day
Today, Tiesto is still one of the most popular DJs in the world.
Tiesto is known around the world and is one of the most well respected DJs ever.
