FEATHERSTONE PRIMARY
AND NURSERY SCHOOL
MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER: MAY 2017 Dear Parents/Carers,
It’s the end of another half term and I can’t believe that there is only one more half term until we break up for the summer holidays! Friday 26th May is the last day of this half term. To help us raise more money for new playground equipment for our children, please send/bring in £1 for your child’s class teacher and your child can wear their own clothes on Friday.
Unfortunately, due to significant budget cuts, our school will have even less money available to spend on our children next year. Therefore it is even more important that we have your help and support. To help raise money for our children, we will be holding a Summer Fair on Friday 14th July from 1:30—4pm for parents and pupils. More details will follow in June and we will be asking parents for your help, support, donations and contributions.
If you have any ideas, suggestions and would like to help us to organise the event or support in any way, please let me know. We need your help. Let’s work together to make it a huge success!
As always, please come and see me before or after school in the playground (or any teacher or one of my senior leadership team) if you would like to talk to us or if we can help you or your
child in any way. We are here to help you. Mr D Lee (Headteacher)

parents, staff, the local authority and the community – who work closely with staff and
parents to ensure the school is successful and that our children are happy and achieving.
We all give our time voluntarily and attend special training to help do our jobs . If you
know anyone in the local community who might be interested in joining us and helping
the school by becoming a governor, please contact Sylvia Procter, clerk to the governing

and Ms Narula. However Ms Qureshi
will be returning in June to do some
teaching in the school.
School lunches
In our monitoring we have noted that children in Years 3 &4 have mainly packed lunch. We would like to encourage as many children as possible to have school lunches. We would love to hear your views as to why the children choose only to have packed lunches.
Please speak to Mrs Sidhu (Deputy Head) - you can find her at the front the school either at the start of the school day or the end. Thank you
It has been a great start to the summer term for Team Featherstone!
Our KS2 Cheer Squad and a Year 6 Dancer, were invited to perform at the FHS Dance Festival 2017, we are
so proud of their performances.
Team Featherstone also competed in the sports partnership Quad Kids Athletics event, where the whole
team had to complete a 75m sprint, vortex throw, standing long jump and 600m run.
Well done to all the team who had success in their own event and group stages to earn pints for the team,
we are looking forward to receiving the results later this month!

PARKING
May we just remind all staff, parents and visitors to the school if you are parking in nearby roads to be
considerate of how you park. Local residents have informed the school they will call the traffic officers
who can then issue parking tickets if parked illegally. The owner of the following vehicle GP53 LEJ, a
silver car, was reported by a local resident for blocking their driveway recently, if you know who this
car belongs to or if this is your car, please inform the school office.
