LYNEAR THINKING

By Lynn M. Armstrong

What I learned in the boardroom and the living room.

BASIC TENETS

Live on purpose.

Feel vision.

Make it count.

EVERY DAY COUNTS.

Give 150% of yourself to that which matters most.

Care about others. Look for success and results.

Accomplish what is important to do today.

BE THE CEO OF YOUR OWN LIFE.

Creative

Energetic

Optimistic

DON’T HOLD ME BACK.

Never say no to an idea.

Ask how it can grow.

VISION IS INCLUSIVE.

Yours.

Mine.

Ours.

VISION IS NOT NECESSARILY FOR THE SIGHTED, OR THE PROMOTED.

Vision keeps you going when everything else tells you to stop.

“Two years planning a documentary movie, and this blind guy barely makes it to camp 1?”

P.S. The “blind guy” climbed the mountain.

HAVE ASPIRATIONS

You can’t see “vision.” You feel vision.

HAVE A MISSION

Remember what it is that you must do every day, and never forget to do.

Be clear.

Be connected.

Be focused.

VALUES ARE NOT OPTIONAL. Honesty. Respect. Integrity. Family. Quality. Health. Love. Compassion.

TEACH SOMEONE TO SHINE.

You don’t have to be the one, all the time. Sometimes it’s OK to let someone else have the spot light. Everyone needs to shine. Teach someone something today.

2ND CHANCES ONLY COME ONCE. Remember what you learned and write it down

BE HELPFUL.Great people focus on everyone else.

TAKE THE HIGH ROAD.

Nelson Mandela invited his incarcerators to dinner. One woman didn’t come, so he went to her.

CREATE INFECTIOUS ENTHUSIASM.

Make complex things simple so everyone can be a part of it.

CELEBRATE DIFFERENCE. TOLERANCE IS AN INSULT.

Creative. Yellow.Passionate. Red. Focused on getting things done. BlueMaintain order. Green

HOW YOU GET THINGS DONE MATTERS MORE.

Getting things done is important.

BE WORTHY OF RESPECT.

Is earned through actions. Is built on understanding.Asks why. Listens to others.Responds. Looks you in the eye. Does not give answers. Creates a path.

IMAGERY IS THE LANGUAGE OF CLARITY.

Create a picture that is meaningful to each person.

Clarity is personal. It causes one to think differently. See another perspective.

YOU ARE OBLIGATED TO KEEP GROWING.

If what you are doing is easy, then you need to move on. Growing is stretching.

THE THINGS I HAVE LEARNED . . .

1. IF IT’S TOO EASY, MOVE ON.

The more each person is able to grow, the more we are able to accomplish.

2. SOMETIMES IT’S HARD TO LET GO.

Send me a signal if I hang on too long.

3. CREATE A PATH THAT OTHERS CAN FOLLOW. THEN GUIDE THEM.

The road can be a wide one. This is scarey for some people. And sometimes hard to follow.

4. SPEED IS NOT THE POINT.

There is no point in being so far out in front that you are invisible.

5. ONE PERSON CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH.

As much as one person can do.

6. MAKE A PLAN AND COMMIT.

Now. Say it out loud. Write it down. Share it. Live it . Visit it. Don’t make it easy.

7. BREATHE.

Inspirare. To inhale. Breathe in. Oxygen deprivation does strange things to the human body. Heart rates go haywire, brain function decreases, blood thickens. Intestines shut down.
