The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) promotes clean vehicle adoption in California by offering rebates of up to $7,000 for the purchase or lease of new, eligible zero-emission vehicles, including battery, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicles.

Clean Vehicle Rebate Project
Standard Rebate
$4,500 for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV)
$2,000 for Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
$1,000 for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)
$750 for Zero-Emission Motorcycle (ZEM)
Increased Rebate
Consumers with household incomes less than or equal to 300% of the federal poverty level are eligible for an additional $2,500.

Income Eligibility
Californians are ineligible for a rebate if their gross annual income exceeds certain thresholds. These income caps do not apply to FCEVs.
• $150,000 for single filers • $204,000 for head-of-household filers • $300,000 for joint filers

Other Benefits
Tax Credit A federal tax credit up to $7,500 is available on the purchase of new electric vehicles. The amount varies based on the vehicle’s battery size and your ability to apply the credit.

HOV Lane Access Vehicles that meet specified emissions standards are eligible for a clean air vehicle decal that allows a single-occupant car to use California’s HOV lanes.
• Decals are valid for up to four years

Regional IncentivesBased on where you live, other incentives may be available to reduce your vehicle purchase price and ongoing charging costs.
