The zonefor k-3rd graders I’d like to welcome you to Children’s Ministry at Central United Methodist
Church. My name is Sabrina Williams and I serve as your director of Childrenand Family Ministry.
The sole vision for our ministry at Central is to teach children about theneverending, all encompassing love of God and to enable them to claim thatas the one thing in their life that will never change in whatever circumstancethey find themselves.
We have a dedicated group of volunteers ministering to your children onSundays and Wednesdays. I would encourage you to get involved! We can al-ways use another set of hands and feet.
Our elementary Sunday School program, The Crosswalk, runs year-round.Our Fall evening programming will begin with Wednesday Night Live on Au-gust 27th along with Zone and Club 412 on Sunday, September 7th. Our Crosswalk Rotation Sunday School is for grades 1-5. Sunday andWednesday evening activities are for grades K-5. On Sunday evenings, fourthand fifth graders meet together in Club 412. All of our programs are designedto reinforce one another. My hope is that you will allow your child to attendevening activities as well as Sunday School. You will be amazed at what theywill learn!

CLUB 4124TH & 5TH GRADERS
Club 412 was created for our fourth and fifth grade stu-dents and is grounded in the scripture I Timothy 4:12,“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you areyoung, but set an example for the believers in speech, inconduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” Lessons are cen-tered on scripture and life-application issues affectingpreteens.This group meets in a space designed for them off of
the 11th Street Gym area. Following their lesson andsmall group time, they have recreation in the gym. Stu-dents will also have an opportunity to learn scripture andqualify for an award trip at the end of the semester.Club 412 meets at 5:30 for dinner in Cafe 412 (on the
stage).

The Zone is for children grades K through 3rd grades.Children are divided K-1st and 2nd-3rd to participate inBible Skills and Drills including storytime, computer, artand recreation. Each lesson has a scripture and key pas-sage for students to learn. At the end of the year students will have had the op-
portunity to learn 8 verses and 10 key passages. Theywill memorize verses, be able to find the key passages inthe Bible and learn the books and divisions of the Old andNew Testament. Zone students will also have the oppor-tunity to complete a scripture memorization chart andqualify for an award trip at the end of the semester.The Zone begins at 5:30 with dinner in the 11th Street
Gym kitchen. From 6 to 7 p.m., children meet in break-out groups.

In these 12 fun lessons based on candy,kids will learn life lessons about worldlytemptations, growing in Christ, and living
for God.
Memory Verse: Psalm 119:103 "Howsweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!”Week 1 - Gum. Kids will learn fromSolomon that nothing on this Earth canmake them happy for very long. OnlyJesus can give eternal joy.Week 2 - Sour Candy. Kids will learn thatsome things that seem sweet will turnsour on us because they are not God'splan for us. Kids will learn the story of theIsraelites trying to take the Promised Landafter God said no.Week 3 - Mints. Kids will learn they can'tcover up their sin, but they need to con-fess it and let Jesus make them new.Week 4 - Movie Candy. Kids will learnthe importance of counting the cost of fol-lowing Jesus.Week 5 - Chocolate. Kids will learn howCreation reminds us of the goodness - andsweetness - of God.Week 6 - Cotton Candy. Kids will learn toput their faith on a firm foundation, notone that fades away, from the parable ofthe wise and foolish builders.

Kids will learnthat there is no sense in arguing with God.He is unchanging, and his will is unbreak-able. The story of Jonah.Week 9 - Hard Candy. Kids will learn thevirtue of patience (sucking on a hardcandy to make it last vs chomping) fromthe story of Jacob and Rachel.Week 10 - Red Hots. Kids will learn thatGod can give us the strength to withstandany trial we may face.Week 11 - Jelly Beans. Kids will learnhow God created us all different but yet hewants us to work together in unitythrough the story of the early church.Week 12 - Candy Bars. We all have a fa-vorite candy bar, but no one would everget angry with someone else becausetheir favorite is different than ours. Kidswill learn the importance of treating otherswith respect, even when they disagreewith you.

The Crosswalk is a Workshop Rotation program
that incorporates computer, storytelling, art,
drama, cooking, science, video workshops and
much more to present multi-learning-style
lessons from God's Word. Each group of children
has a guide that shepherds them each Sunday
year-round. Workshop teachers change each ro-
tation and are made up of adult church members.
Each unit usually lasts six weeks, culminating in
a Celebration Sunday on the seventh week.
Throughout the rotation, children earn points
through attendance, bringing Bibles and lesson
knowledge. On Celebration Sunday, they redeem
their points for prizes.

Sunday at 9:40 a.m. for a gathering time.

Wednesday Night Live begins with a
family meal at 5 p.m. in the Fellow-
ship Hall. Children ages K-5th Grade
gather at 6 p.m. in Central Park for a
large group lesson and then move
into smaller groups until 7 p.m.
Children are able to spend time
working on their Bible memorization
charts on Wednesday nights.
