the goal of the educator when using the scaffolding teaching strategy is for the student to become an independent and self-regulating learner and problem solver (Hartman, 2002).

Scaffolding • students learn best when they start
from what is already known and are assisted with scaffolding to work to the unknown
• Students are more motivated when they have an easy text with a task at their level of competence

Building Schemata
The learners have
been given a lecture on WWII read short stories about WWII from different
perspectives….(From the Anthology of WWII) listened to a piece called “Give!” by Anne Frank watched the BBC documentary of Anne Frank’s
Diary done research on an aspect WWII and done a
presentation
Mini exercise (1)- reading the sample journals (15 Mins)• We need 4 groups to work with this exercise • 2 groups to read and analyze Diary A• 2 groups to read and analyze Diary B• As a group discuss what your entry is about• Each Diary A group will pair up with a Diary B
group• Then discuss which Diary is more impressive
and what happens in the book• As a combined group report to all of us

AND WRITE A SHORT ENTRY FROM BRUNO’s PERSPECTIVE (15 Minutes)
