When water begins to group together into a pond, lake, stream, river…well, you get the idea…the sun warms it. Once the water gets hot enough it turns into water vapor, which is still water but it’s light enough to float up into the sky.

CondensationBut once a cloud is formed, the water vapor does not
stop rising. Water vapor continues to fill the clouds and they get bigger…and bigger… until they can’t hold anymore water. That’s when it rains!
