God-Haters“Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. From their callous hearts comes iniquity; the

evil conceits of their minds know no limits. They scoff, and speak with malice;

in their arrogance they threaten oppression” (Psalm 73:6-8).

Jesus: Our Great High Priest

“Such a high priest meets our needs—one needs—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart

from sinnersfrom sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himselfonce for all when he offered himself”

(Hebrews 7:26-27).

The Only Place Where Life Makes Sense

Is at the Foot of the Cross

A Cross-Shaped View of God-Haters

“Surely you place them on slipperyslippery ground; you cast them down to ruinruin. How suddenly are they destroyed,

completely swept away by terrors! As a As a dream dream when one awakes; when you

arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies” (Psalm 73:18-20).

A Cross-Shaped View of Myself

“When my heart was grieved and my spirit

embittered, I was senseless and ignorantsenseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you” (Psalm 73:21-22).

A Cross-Shaped View of God

“Yet I am always with youYet I am always with you; you hold me you hold me by my right handby my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but Whom have I in heaven but

you? And earth has nothing I desire you? And earth has nothing I desire besides youbesides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:23-

26).

Trusting God Theologically and Personally

“Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for meBut as for me, it is good to be near God. I

have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deedsI will tell of all your deeds” (Psalm
