Installing a hideaway plug in a drawer can give you an extra socket for when you’ve got a lot of electronic goods on the go but don’t have the wall space to install more regular plugs.

Most kitchens have a lot of wasted space, particularly around the fridge. Why not take advantage of this by installing cupboards on top and to the side of the fridge.

Another perfect place to hide your electrical outlets is under your higher cupboards. They take up very little space and are next to invisible when they aren’t in use.

Ever found yourself annoyed by fake drawers and cupboards? Get rid of them! Installing actual drawers can give you some much needed extra space.

You can also remove the kitchen plinth at the bottom of your kitchen workspaces and turn this space into an extra drawer for utensils or baking trays.

A pull out spice rack is a great way to store condiments and spices. These are great if you cook a wide variety of foods and often find yourself stuck for places to keep all of your many spices and herbs.

This one is really clever, stools on hinges are a great addition to kitchen islands and breakfast bars, allowing you to have permanent seating for these areas that is easily stored away.

Another creative option is to turn one of your kitchen drawers into a pull out chopping board, saving space on your kitchen worktops while adding a quick and easy way to access a chopping board when needed.

Glass splash-backs are a rising trend for 2014, not only do they look stylish but they’re much easier to clean than traditional metal splash-backs or plain walls.

If you don’t need the space on your worktops it may be worth adding some extra in-counter storage boxes, these are really handy and double as breadbins and biscuit tins!
