The Solar SystemThe wanders of where we live.

By Pamela Hall-Marshall

What is the solar system?

The solar systemThe solar system consisted of the sun in the

centre and eight planet that revolve around it.

The planets according to there size and ability, they goes around the sun in a particular time.

In addition to the planets there are meteoroids, asteroids and satellites.

The solar system is situated in the universe within a galaxy called the milky way.

The Milky Way is the galaxy that contains our Solar System.

The Universe

The universeThe Universe contains billions of galaxies, each containing millions or billions of stars. The space between the stars and galaxies is largely empty. However, even places far from stars and planets contain scattered particles of dust or a few hydrogen atoms per cubic centimeter.The universe includes living things,

planets, stars, galaxies, dust clouds, light, and even time.

Our galaxy where we live, consisted of our solar system.

Inner and Outer Planets

Similarities and differences

The Sun

The sunThe sun is a star, a hot ball of glowing gases at

the heart of our solar system, the centre . Made up mostly of hydrogen and helium. The sun is not a solid body, it does not have solid

surface, different parts of the sun rotate at different rates. The temperature at the sun's core is about 15 million degrees Celsius

The sun is orbited by eight planets, at least five dwarf planets, tens of thousands of asteroids, and hundreds of thousands to three trillion comets and icy bodies.

It provides gravitational pull for the eight planets. Without the sun's intense energy there would be

no life on Earth.

Characteristics of Earth

Characteristics of the EarthThe Earth is the third planet away from the

sun.It is the most dense planet.It is the largest of the four inner planet.It is sometime refer to as the blue planet-

because of its water. Earth has 71% water and 29% gas.

It is made up of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon.Earth has two major forces , Gravity and

Magnetism.It is a rotating sphere.

Earths Rotation and Revolution

Rotation=time 24 hours-day and night

Revolution=four seasons
