The baffles are what make the supppressorwork. Attaching an empty can to the muzzledoes little to muffle the report. Using only onebaffle makes a signifigant differance in thenoise level.
As in creating a sculpture, the trick is to start
out with a piece of bar stock and cut offeverything that does not like a baffle. Easiersaid than done. Here is how I did it. Theshaded area is the bar stock waiting to be cutaway. The left-hand portion of the bar stock isthe end held in the work holding chuck.
Start with squaring off the bar stock. The backof the baffle must be perfectly square to ensureit fits against the spacer or end cap properly.
Next turn down the bar stock until it is the properdimension to fit into the suppressor tube. This isalso important to get just right. Turning down toabout 0.003 to 0.005 inches less than tube inside
diameter should work well.

Cut metal from the front bearing surface. This cutneeds to be square to ensure the baffle seatsstraight against the spacer. The outside diameter ofthe conical portion of the baffle is not the same asthe inside. To determine the correct outside (X2)dimension based on inside diameter (X1), baffleangle, and baffle thickness (Y1, Y2), use this
Excel File.
Drill a hole a bit deeper than the length of thebaffle using a drill bit attached to the tailpiece.
Make sure the hole drilled is smaller than the finalinside diameter of the baffle. Drill bits generallywill not make the hole in the center.
Use a 60 degree reamer to cut away enough metalfrom the inside of the baffle to allow easier accesswith a tool bit to finish the back of the baffle.

Finish squaring off the inside of the baffle with atool bit. This portion of the back of the baffleshould be left thick enough to stay in shape whenheld in the work holding chuck while the outside ofthe baffle is turned. Reduce the thickness of thispart of the baffle as the last step.
Use the reamer to finish removing metal on theinside of the baffle.
Remove the baffle from the work holding chuckand cut off the left portion of the bar stock.
Mount the baffle into the chuck with the finishedportion of the baffle in the jaws then use a 30degree cut to finish removing metal from theoutside of the baffle.

Use a tool bit to center and widen the front hole tothe proper size.
Trim the remaining metal from the tip of thebaffle.Trim the remaining metal from the tip of thebaffle.
