Aussie Businesswoman Shares Tips for

Highly Engaged and Effective Team Building

in Sydney

Why is team building in Sydney important? Well, if you’re going to ask Naomi

Simson, she will tell you that it is because the success of your

business lies on having loyal, motivated and engaged

employees.

Speaking at Zendesk’s Relate Live conference in the New

South Wales capital, the RedBalloon founder and Shark Tank judge stressed out that a strong brand comes down to

every single employee.

Shaping a Highly Engaged Team

Ms Simson said as the leader, it is up to a company’s founder to

bring a team together and empower, inform and educate

every member about the purposes of the business.

By aligning everyone to your cause and achieving that “perfect oneness,” you and your team can

achieve great things. To help business owners and office

managers out, she outlines the five key principles for building a

highly engaged team.

1.  Connected to core values

According to Ms Simson, people become more motivated when they feel a sense of belongingness. They

become highly engaged

when they feel connected to the business and its values, as well as

when they are a part of a community and believe in what that community

stands for. As such, to improve employee engagement, business

owners must do their best to create a work environment where each

member of the team feels like family.

2.  Able to learn and grow

A highly engaged team is one that enjoys various opportunities for

growth and development that are supported by a strong leadership.

To motivate your team, therefore, you must trust them. As the leader, you should provide them with the

opportunities to make decisions, to learn, and to spread their wings.

Using the analogy of a rowing team, Ms. Simson, drives the

point home. “When you think about the boat, the leader is

small, she is the only one who can see strategy and set the

rhythm,” she said.

3.  Get fit together

Helping each other to stay fit is another way to create a highly

engaged team. Whether it’s a group walk, a game of basketball,

orSydney Amazing Race, Ms Simson said getting people moving helps boost their energy and spirit.

4. Have pride in the work

Contrary to popular belief, employees, especially the highly engaged ones, are not just in it for the money. They work hard

so they can feel proud about themselves.

As such, Ms Simson recommends giving your employees work that will make them feel proud about

themselves.According to her, something as simple as thanking and recognising the workers for

their efforts can make a huge difference in their everyday lives.

Help Them Become Mentors5. Help and support others

As part of team building Australia, each employee must also be taught how to help and

support his or her peers.

By enabling them to become mentors to each other, Ms

Simson believes that business owners and managers will be able to create a business and

brand that is authentic, transparent, and genuine.

“If we create a really safe place for people, where they feel

great, they will go home and share the happiness,” she

added.
