A Laser is a winningsailing investment Easy to transport, cartopable on mostmakes of car, it takes just a fewminutes to get ready for action. Slotthe two piece mast together, slide thesail over the mast and place into thehull... that’s about a three minute job. Then just wheel your Laser down tothe water and within five minutes youare off.
And you will never forgetthe first time you sail aLaserWhilst this boat has earned aninternational reputation for its racingpedigree, it is so much fun to sail. That’s why Lasers are so popular withthe world’s top holiday companies.
“International Laser is a sailing phenomenon”
Over 180,000 are sailing
in over 120 countries.
Every one is built to
incredibly strict class rules
which prevent expensive
go-fast extras – a major part
of the appeal. Because when
you race a Laser you know
that everyone around you is
in exactly the same boat,
so it’s the slickest sailor
that wins the day, not the
smartest mover in the
chandlers. It also means
that your Laser will never be
outdated, which explains
why it has such an enviable
resale value.

The Lasers you see and sail on thesebeaches are built to exactly the samespecification as the Lasers in theOlympic Games. Wherever you see sails you are likely
to see Lasers. Most clubs race them,so you will never have to travel far tofind great competition, unless, ofcourse, you want to. When you sail aLaser you join one of the largest andfriendliest sailing families in the world, with an events programme that issecond to none. A full internationalschedule for youth and Masterssailors, plus a weekend racingprogramme at club, regional andnational levels. It’s easy to take part. In all but the
most major championships you justrock up with your Laser and enjoy. And if you want some tips before youtry your first event then there arestacks of training programmes, fromcomplete beginners’ courses right upto top race training. If you have seen Laser racing and
are intrigued as to just why so manypeople in so many countries arehooked, or if you feel that yourweekends could be even better, thencome and join us.

found on individual boats. The magicof this Richards design is that theVago carries the majority of them, without compromise. The technical qualities and design
features of the Vago are far beyondthe usual – starting with the perfectlytuned rig that complements theinnovative hull design. The Vago is constructed from a
polyethylene Tri-Skin foam sandwich, offering durability and a hard wearingexterior which means maintenance iskept to an absolute minimum. Theshape offers outstandingperformance.Laser Vago comes in two versions.
Put simply the difference ishorsepower: one of them has moresail area and a trapeze. The Gnav vang system creates more
space in the cockpit to assist crewmobility and comfort. It has a “sit in”feel, not usually associated withasymmetric skiff style sailing. Thecockpit design supports hiking andtrapeze options, with inset steps foreasy leverage. The Vago has a high boom giving
more crew space and a simple layoutwith all control lines being easy tolocate and use.The mainsail operates on a one line

reefing system: pulling on one controlline slab reefs the mainsail to 70% ofits original size. This feature, coupledwith a roller furling jib, means a quickincrease or decrease in sail power.Choosing your Laser Vago
specification is easy: the onlydifference is “engine size”...Laser Vago offers comfortable,
exciting sailing whilst enhancingconfidence and skill sets. On boardVago you will find a single line reefsystem (not on Vago XD), furling jib

YACHTS & YACHTING
Here is a sailboat born for clubracing with a dynamic yet forgiving hullshape, an easily controlled combi-tecmainsail and rig that is ideal for lessexperienced sailors for whom theLaser 2000 has years of built-inprogression included.
The deep cockpit providesa real sit-in feel... andinspires confidence The Laser 2000 provides lots of legroom and a deep cockpit, which isreassuring for newcomers. So many ofthe other new designs give a sit onride. Exciting yes, but for family sailing
it can be all too precarious. The Laser 2000 makes you feel secure.
The dynamic hull ispowerful yet providesgreat stability... and a dry ride The moment you step aboard you willbe reassured by the stability... Turnthe power on and you will appreciatethe dynamics. Laser 2000 is botheasily driven and quick. Going fast means lots of spray. But
on the Laser 2000 (unlike lots ofother modern designs) it’s deflectedaway from the crew.

Direct, precise
handling... and
great control Laser 2000 was designed by PhilMorrison and developed by theLaser Team, so has the samepedigree as the Laser 4000 andshares their impeccable handlingcharacteristics. The feedback fromthe steering system is both lightand precise. The maxaerofoil
rudder keeps the Laser 2000 firmlyon track in conditions where otherboats are struggling to hold on.The power source is a modern andeasily handled rig. A combi-tecMylar mainsail incorporates a fulllength top batten and shorterbattens further down the sail.Latest sail materials benefit fromfull length batten control but a fullybattened sail is hard to de-powerand presents problems ashore (caneasily blow a boat off its trolley). The Laser combi-tec system offersthe best of both worlds and can
even be reefed when the conditionsrequire. A standard specificationfurling jib means Laser 2000 canbe transformed into a single-handerin under ten seconds. It takes littlemore to simultaneously launch andrecover the gennaker and gennakerpole with a single line hoist anddrop system. Sail and rig controlsare perfectly positioned and easy toadjust. The loads on the gennaker,so often an issue on modern boats, can easily be managed bylightweight or young sailors in heavywinds.
‘I selected Laser 2000 for club racing. Noother boat offered the combination ofperformance and excitement that enables meto sail with a wide range of abilities and familymembers. The performance is impressive...I’ve got some prizes to prove it!’

THE BOAT: LASER 4000Designed by Phil Morrison to providehigh performance asymmetric sailingto strict one design rules. Developedto compete in a new format ofsailboat racing. AND UNIQUE TOLASER.
THE EVENTS: Grand Prix Racing in the UK and Europe A new concept of racing demanded anew concept of event. The race trackis short. So are the races. Usuallyback to back. Three in a day isnormal. The closest sailboat racingyou will find. Great venues. Hugeaprès sail. The Laser raceprogramme is the Premier League ofsailing. AND UNIQUE TO LASER.
Getting ready for fair playAt all Laser 4000 events, the crewpower equalisation equipment (CPE) ison hand. Helm and crew are weighed.Leverage readings are taken. Totalweight and leverage results thenestablish which rack setting and whatcorrection weights must be used.Getting ready for fair play takes justminutes. To avoid temptation, randomchecks are carried out at all regattas. •Ask the sales team for a fullerexplanation of CPE for Laser 4000.

THE CONCEPT For decades, one design sailboats haveprovided close racing. Yet no matterhow uniform the design of boat, crewweight and height has always been animportant part of the winning formula. In light winds, sailors with slighter
physique have less dead weight to
carry so they have an advantage. In heavy winds, big people have the
weight and leverage to handle thepower. No surprises then, to seeresults reflecting this. Laser CREW POWER EQUALISATION
is a unique method of solving thisirregularity in one design racing.
A system of adjustable racks andcorrectors removes crew physiquefrom the winning formula. It’s an award winning system that has
been proven internationally in the Laserrace programme. It has raised thegame in one design racing.AND IT IS UNIQUE TO LASER.
To see how you would sail your Laser 4000, read off the weights ofhelm and crew. This will give you: 1. your rack setting 2. how many weight correctors to carry
Example:Helm weight 77kg Crew weight 66kg would sail on rack position 7carrying 3 weight correctors.

ROB ANDREWS
On Laser 4000 there are no prizesfor expensive go fast extras. Classrules ban them. No rewards for beingthe lightest crew in a drifter or thebiggest team in a blow. Unique crewpower equalisation sees to that.
· Every Laser 4000 is identical. Latesthull shape, new generation rig andasymmetric gennaker take Laser4000 into the highest level ofperformance sailing. Yet sosophisticated is the design that highspeed racing can be enjoyed withsublime control.· Steering is light, perfectly balancedand precise.· The self draining open plan deckprovides acres of space and the Gnavsystem means massive working areafor the crew.· All systems are perfectly placed andeasy to operate.· The gennaker and pole are launchedand recovered using a single line. Thevital sail controls lead back to thehelm. Sheet loads are easily managedby lightweight crews. The sum of Laser 4000’s qualitiesadd up to a racing boat that hasraised the game.

“Laser has a reputationfor being the best atcreating awesome one-design race circuits, taking in quality venuesand including the nowlegendary après sail”
CHRIS BLACKBURNLaser SB3 Product Manager
Drawing on Laser’s extensiveexperience in one-design sailboats andrace circuits, the future of SB3 racingis a rich collection of the best eventsat top venues in the UK and Europe.

“It is such a relief tosail a keelboat whereone can be entirelyindependent of marinas, lifts and four-wheel-drivevehicles! The wholelaunching process is a straightforward two-man job”
MARK RUSHALL Yachts & Yachting boat test
On its custom built trailer, the Laser SB3 can be towed comfortablybehind a normal family car and iseasy to manhandle around the boatpark. The mast is raised without theneed for special equipment and it isnot necessary to enlist the help ofthe local rugby team for launching.
“When it comes tocreating close, onedesign, large fleetracing, I think Laser”
IAN WALKERSkipper, GBR Challenge
“SB3 racing has proved to be everything I hoped forand more. One design is the only way to go for reallygood racing now, and the SB3 gives close tacticalupwind sailing with lively performance offwind, andthe boat is hassle free for moving around. The fleet isfriendly but competitive, and we have been to somegreat venues. With a fast growing fleet, it’s onlygoing to get better!”
JERRY HILL Laser SB3 National Champion 2003
Winning won’t
depend on the
fitness of the crew! Thanks to the low aspect keel and avery high ballast ratio the Laser SB3
is an extremely stable and stiffsportsboat. With the implementationof a ‘no hiking rule’, race results relyon skills and tactics and not on thefitness of the crew. In fact the sit inbars effectively prevent hiking andpromote on-board communicationbetween crew members. Laser SB3 delivers racing in comfortwithout the athletics.

Just who can sailFunboat? If you can ride a bike, you can do it.Age is immaterial. Just like a bike yousteer and go... except on Funboat thewind does the work for you.
How do you get Funboatin the water?Simple! A lightweight custom trailerthat’s easy to manoeuvre. Oh, andeven the smallest car.
So we arrive at the beach. How long does it reallytake to get going?Give yourselves ten minutes. It reallyis incredibly easy.
What sort of looking afterdoes Funboat need?Well, you can sail Funboat up thebeach and not have to worry. She isbuilt to take the knocks year in, yearout. As for maintenance, five minuteswith a jet wash from time to time willdo the job.
Do I need to storeFunboat inside? No. You can even leave her outside allyear round.
My favourite Funboat features...by Matt Blakestone of Neilson, who isresponsible for the 250-strongNeilson fleet. The shapeFunboat’s shape means there’s lots ofstability wherever you sit. Far morethan on traditional sailboats. It alsomeans that Funboat slices throughthe water. There’s stacks of roominside. The headroomThe boom is very, very high, whichmeans lots of room underneath andno need to bump your head. The shape underneathMost small boats have a centreboardthat needs to be lowered when goingafloat - and raised when coming back.Funboat’s unique shape means there’sno need for a centreboard. So nohassle leaving or returning to thebeach.
