The Queen's nostalgic visit to her old home island of MaltaThe British monarch yesterday wrapped up a nostalgic visit to Malta, where she formerly lived while her husband, Prince Philip, was in the Royal Navy.

Last night, she was toasted by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting banquet on the island.

Mr Trudeau, 43, joked that he is not the youngest prime minister but the newest, before recounting the 89-year-old Queen's previous visits to Canada.

The Queen and her son, Prince Charles, are pictured greeting Mr. Trudeau at the San Anton Palace near Attard, Malta, ahead of the dinner last night.

Last night, Her Majesty was toasted by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (above) at a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting banquet on the island. During his speech, Mr Trudeau, 43, joked that the Queen has 'seen more of Canada than most Canadians'.

During his toast, Mr Trudeau was visibly emotional as he spoke of his former prime minister father, Pierre. Above, Pierre Trudeau joins the Queen in Vancouver in March 1982.

Last night's dinner was held at the Corinthia Hotel. The Queen (pictured at the event) was wearing a white state dress by Angela Kelly, with the Grand Duchess Vladimir tiara with emerald drops.

Today, the Queen took a boat trip across the Grand Harbor in Valletta, as she wrapped up her visit to the Mediterranean island.

She also watched a polo match, planted a native Maltese tree and viewed a collection of Maltese artwork and crafts with Prince Philip at Heritage Malta in Kalkara. Above, the Queen walks on the boat.
