Anniston and the Gadsden Metros in the bottom 10

ranked metro areas in America to live in. Anniston

ranked #323 and Gadsden ranked #324 out of 331

total metro areas in the United States.

ranked as the 4th

poorest city in America

from 24/7 Wall St.

Rand McNally named

Gadsden as one of the

seven worst cities in America in 1989.

Gadsden is ranked the

87th most dangerous

city in America.

Alexander City Alabama

Alexander City has lost over

10,000+ jobs with Russell

Corp. leaving town. Few

jobs have been replaced.

Unemployed people from

Alexander City appeared on

the History Channel show

“Bamazon” in 2013.

Alexander City has so little

road funding, they are re-

paving many busy roads

with tar and gravel.

Oxford unemployment rate

spiked to around 7.8%. In

March 2013, it was 6.8%. The

Anniston / Oxford area saw the

highest unemployment spike of

any metro area in America.

In 2012, the website 24/7 Wall St. named Anniston /

Oxford as having the worst wage drop of any metro

area in America. The average yearly wage dropped

2.4%. The site HomeVestors also ranked the

Anniston/Oxford area as one of the worst to buy or sell a home. We are in the dangerous category.

Recently, Forbes ranked Anniston / Oxford as the

179th small metro area in America for the best

places for businesses and careers. This means

Anniston / Oxford is the 6th worst small metro area

in America for business/careers. And for job

growth, we’re the 3rd worst!

In 2008, the organization The Milken

Institute ranked the Anniston / Oxford area

as the 34th best performing small metro

area in America. In 2013, Anniston / Oxford

was ranked the 178th best performing small

metro area in America, out of 179 small

metro areas, the 2nd worst in America!

According to the charts, CES employment for Anniston peaked in March 2007 at 53,700. Since then 8,600 jobs have been lost in Anniston.
