What do we mean by the power of one at JME?

We mean stories like the staff member who met a child at the Eagle Creek library twice a week and

tutored them for free throughout the entire summer. Why? To help this child become a better

reader.

The Power of One

We mean stories like the staff member who realized that a late and reluctant enrollee

needed a good lunch to make his first day at JME successful. In his own words, “This is

the best school ever. I’ve never had so much fresh fruit. It was a great lunch.” This is a

common practice for this person.

The Power of One

We mean stories like the staff member who invited kids into her work space each day just to talk. The kids got to know her so well that they new each member of her family in her picture

frames on her desks and their interests.

The Power of One

We mean stories like the two staff members who decided that a child who moved would

still come to JME even though they were now OOA, and the mom couldn’t get him here. They decided to take turns going to his house each morning to bring him to school--just as if he were their child.

The Power of One

We mean stories like the staff member who often took home a challenging student so

that they could play ---and just so he would feel like he was loved outside the walls of our school. She still checks on him even though he’s been gone from JME for two

years.

The Power of One

YOU can be The Power of One for a student!
