THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

BY: PATRICK HANLON, MATTHEW PAOLELLA, AND RAHUL NARAYANAN

NERVOUS TISSUE

Nervous tissue is the main part of the two parts of the nervous system. These are the brain and the spinal cord of the central nervous system, and the branching nerves of the peripheral nervous system.

NEURONS• Neurons are what make up the nervous system.

• Neurons are made a soma, dendrites , and an axen.

• They send messages to other parts of the body.

• Neurons are connected by glial cells.

NERVOUS SYSTEM DISEASES

• One disease is multiple sclerosis. It causes mental, physical, and possibly psychiatric problems.

• Another disease is epilepsy. It causes epileptic seizures. Those same seizures tend to reoccur.

• Catalepsy is also a disease. It is a nervous disorder that slows down bodily functions, such as breathing. Wikipedia

• The last disease I will talk about is meningitis. It causes reoccurring headaches and vomiting. It is caused by inflammation of meninges.

THE SPINAL CORDThis is an X-Ray of a human spine. It is made up of many vertebrae. In the center of the vertebrae is the spinal cord.

THE HUMAN BRAINThis is an animated X-ray of a human brain. It is the center of the nervous system of all living creatures

(except for jelly fish and other non-brained animals).
