Entrance to Academic Selective Entry Schools in 2019

• A centralised selection process, administered by the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET), to admit students to the four selective entry schools, Mac.Rob, Melbourne High School, Nossal High School and Suzanne Cory High School, for the 2019 school year will include a common entrance examination taken by eligible students in June 2018.

• Applicants will be asked to list their school preference during the enrolment process.

Year 9 Entrance Examination

• Details about the Entrance Examination can be found on the Enrolment Information page of the school website:

• We have a link to the DET website. It is recommended that all applicants carefully read the Information Package before making their online application

Year 9 Selection• 85% of places will be allocated according to

score and rank order of an acceptable standard after the Entrance Examination

• 10% of places can be allocated through an Equity Consideration (see DET Information pack)

• 5% of places are allocated though the Principal’s Discretionary Category

• 100% of places to go students who have undertaken the entrance examination

Up to 5% of places (13 students) may be allocated at the discretion of the Principal and are not subject to the 5% rule.

Students will be advised by the DET Select Entry Unit if they have been invited to apply for PDC

Only 5 students can attend MGHS, MHS, NHS or SCHS in Year 9, regardless of their examination result with the exception of the Principal’s Discretionary Category and Equity Consideration

• All applicants must send photocopies of their last two school reports and evidence of co-curricular involvement to the Registrar after they have received their Semester 1 2018 reports

• Applicants will be short listed for interview on the basis of their examination result, school reports and co-curricular involvement

• All applicants will be interviewed by a selection panel.

• Morning session: Year 10 2019 9.00am – 12noon

• Afternoon session: Years 10 & 11 2019 1.00pm – 4.00pm

• The examination will follow the same topics as the Year 9 test

• There are limited places at each level
