The Fresh Air of SlideShare
Ali Anani
Closed Rooms and Closed Brains
Tightly close a room so that air ventilation is tight will result eventually in a room with mold stains
Closed Rooms and Closed Brains- 2
Likewise; tightly close a head so that idea ventilation is tight will result eventually in a head with rotten ideas stains growing in it
Idea Ventilators
Rooms need air with certain flow rate to remove the mold
Heads need flow of fresh ideas to remove the rotten molds of old ideas
Not All Air Is Equivalent
Authors of presentations receive four forms of fresh air
Air Form ValueNumber of downloads Encouraging, but the author
receives no direct feedback
Number of favorites Same as above
Number of views Critical above 8000- see why later
Comments Different forms of feedback
Number of Downloads
The author feels readers download mostly because they like the presentation and may reuse it. The author does not get feedback where to make improvements

Number of Views
The more the views an author gets, the more satisfied he is.
But there could be a hidden problem

But there could be a hidden problem
Number of Views- 3
Mountaineers know that the critical height for their bodies is 8000 feet. If they go above this height fast then their bodies might not acclimatize and run into health problems
Number of Views- 4
Authors should beware too many views is a short time. They be climbing to heights that be harmful to their balance. Too much too soon might be harmful
Authors May be Tempted to Go Higher too Fast
Mountaineers Problems• If a mountaineer begins to
show symptoms of moderate altitude illness, he is advised not to go higher until symptoms decrease
Authors Problems• Authors might be tempted
to publish too many presentations in a short time to draw more views. The opposite action may be advisable
Authors May be Tempted to Go Higher too Fast- 2
Mountaineers Problems• Mountaineers are advised
to eat a high carbohydrate while at altitude
Authors Problems• Authors need to read a lot
of certain presentation categories on SlideShare while feeling full of pride and standing at high altitude
Authors May be Tempted to Go Higher too Fast- 3
Mountaineers Problems• High Altitude Pulmonary
Edema (HAPE) results from fluid buildup in the lungs. The fluid in the lungs prevents effective oxygen exchange
Authors Problems• SS authors need to
exchange comments for it is the oxygen they need when they feel they are climbing very high
Authors May be Tempted to Go Higher too Fast- 4
Mountaineers Problems• Climb High and sleep low
Authors Problems• Comments that give
directions, criticize and suggest different approaches make the “high-rise” author go down and sleep on these comments before trying to go higher again.
A Shinning Comment• SlideShare is a great venue for getting fresh air of ideas. One great
example is the comment I received on my presentation “Crafting the raft”• Christa Gabanyi at Maharishi Invincibility Center of Munich at Christa
Gabanyi at Maharishi Invincibility Center of Munich, In appreciation and joy of all the enriching comments, comments to the comments, too, I’d like to post the introductory verse to many of the Upanishads (ancient Vedic texts): Let us be together, Let us eat together, Let us be vital together, Let us be radiating truth, radiating the light of life, Never shall we denounce anyone, never entertain negativity
I am Grateful
• I shall be very grateful to your critical comments to lower my altitude to sleep low before trying to go higher. This way I stay with you and I shall feel the fresh air of slideshare
