Plate tectonics=The Earth's surface is made up of moving plates

According to this theory, the Earth's crust….. is made up of about a dozen plates, some are little

and others take up 25% of the Earth’s surface is continually shifting because the surface beneath

them - the hot, soft mantle - is moving slowly like a conveyor belt, driven by heat and other forces at work in the Earth's core

Scientists believe that 200 million years ago there was one big megacontinent (Pangaea)

This broke up about 100 million years ago and made 2 continents (Gondwanaland and Laurasia) that were surrounded by the Panthalassa Ocean
