You Are Needed
It is the midst of summer. But, fall is just around the corner and we have begun the fall ministry recruitment! Yes, FRC’s Children’s Ministry will soon start.
To be successful, many volunteers are needed. Now, don’t stop reading just yet. At many times it hasn’t always been easy to find volunteers for these programs. Peo-ple are busy and have other commitments. We understand that. But, we also know that these children’s programs won’t exist if people don’t volunteer.
Would you consider volunteering? If you think about it, the time commitment is very minute in relation to the rest of your week. And, this small time commitment will make a difference in a child’s life.
Let’s first talk about Sunday School. This fall, we are trying something a little differ-ent, a little out of the box in Children’s Sunday School (ages Preschool-5th grade). The program is entitled “Journey”. The different journeys the children will take through the end of 2018 are: Journey in Faith (September & October), Journey in Thankfulness (November), and Journey to Bethlehem (December).
What happens each Sunday? The kids will all gather in the theater room for music and a brief scripture reading. From there, they will be divided into two groups, the younger kids and older kids, where a video will be available to help further tell the story, as well as discussion questions and there is also other teaching tools to help the leader facilitate the classroom. What we need is a “workshop leader” and “helper” for each age group. Ideally, what we are looking for is people to sign up for a month at a time. And, to help with schedules and planning this year, Sunday School will not be held on the last Sunday of each month.
Now, for Adventure Kids, being a leader is very similar to being a leader in Sunday School, except that it is on Wednesday evening. Your main purpose as a leader will be to discuss the lesson with the kids and guide and assist your group of kids in crafts and games. This year we are trying something different too. What we are do-ing is breaking the year up into two semesters, like a school year, for the leaders. You will be able to commit to the fall semester (Sept-Dec), the winter semester (Jan-April), or the whole year (Sept-April).
Obviously, we are unable to explain what is involved with all of the areas in our Children’s ministry on this page. On pages 5 & 6 of this newsletter, we have given brief descriptions for all of the volunteer areas. We will be glad to answer any additional questions you may have.
Don’t hesitate and volunteer to serve! You will be blessing our children and you will be blessed as well.

Volunteer
Opportunities
If you would like to volunteer, contact Janet (254-5646)
TODAY or sign up under the “Serve” tab of FRC’s website.
Also, Janet would love to answer any questions you may
have about these ministries.
Children’s Ministry
Sunday Morning 9:30 - 10:15 am
Music Leader: Leads children Preschool-5th grade in music 10 –15 minutes at the begin-
ning of the Sunday School hour.
Sunday School Workshop Leader: After music, the leader for each group explores
the story and facilitates group lesson discussion. Classroom time is 25-30 minutes.
Ideally each leader would lead a month at a time, if possible. Sunday School will not be held on the last Sunday of
each month.
Sunday School Workshop Helper: This individual would assist the Workshop leader. We strongly encourage
parents of Sunday School age kids to be a helper or even a leader. Ideally, each helper would lead a month at a time,
if possible.
Sunday Morning During Worship
Sprouts in Worship Leader (10:30 service): This ministry is for kids ages 2-4 years old. Each week two leaders
work together to lead the children in a fun learning environment through lesson and games during the 10:30 am
worship service. All lessons and materials are provided. Individuals will lead once a month from September-May.
Children & Worship Leader: We are always looking for additional faces in this ministry. This is a ministry that
takes place during the second half of the worship services and ministers to children ages 5 - 2nd grade. Contact Janet
for more information.
Children & Worship Helper: This individual would assist the Children & Worship leader; youth and adults
welcome!
Nursery Attendant: Nursery is provided for children infant through age 3 at both worship services. We are looking
for individuals who are able to care for these children during either worship service.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Greeters: Help us welcome guests and members to both worship services.
Coffee Servers (10:30 service): We are in need of a few more individuals who would be a part of the coffee minis-
try for the 10:30 service. For this, you would be part of a rotation basis (approximately every 4-6 weeks).

Wednesday Evening Volunteer Opportunities
Adventure Kids Wednesday Evening 6:15 - 7:45 pm
New this year: Adventure Kids leaders have the choice of committing to the fall semester (Sept-Dec), the winter/
spring semester (Jan-April), or the whole year (Sept-April).
Adventures Kids (K - 5th grade) Leaders: Looking for adults to lead a group (boys or girls grades 2-3 or 4-5 and K-
1 boys and girls). Each week the leader leads kids with their small group discussion (about 10-15 minutes) after a 7
minute lesson video. Discussion questions and material are all provided and the video gives a great overview. Lead-
ers will also go with the group to craft and game time to assist.
Adventure Kids Recreation: We are looking for an individual or couple to rotate weeks with another couple, in
other words only every other week. This involves leading games (various games and supplies are provided in our
game room) for the different groups as they rotate through approximately 15-20 minutes of game time per group.
Same game, just modified for the different age levels.
Craft Helper: We need someone to assist the craft leader during the kids craft time each evening. However, if you
love crafts and want to lead the crafts each Wednesday evening, we would love to have you involved.
Nursery Attendant: Nursery is provided for children of those who help with Adventure Kids as well as children of
those attending the various studies. We are looking for individuals who would assist in nursery during the Wednesday
evening time (6:15 - 7:45 pm). This year, we would like to have 2 teams of 2 people to be in nursery on a rotation ba-
sis. FYI: This is a crucial need because some of our Adventure Kids leaders use nursery. If we do not have nursery, we
may not have some leaders.
If you would like to volunteer, contact Janet (254-5646) TODAY or sign up under the “Serve” tab of FRC’s
website. Janet would love to answer any questions you may have about these ministries as well.

Church Photo Directory Pictures
New church families, new family members, a death in the family, no family picture, or old family pictures- these are some of the reasons why FRC will be making a new church photo directory.
And, we hope you will be a part of the new photo directory!
Beginning August 13th, we will be taking family photos right here at FRC for the new directory.
All members should have received a letter in the mail with information about the new photo directory. If you lost or misplaced the letter, you can view the letter on the “FRC member” section of the website.
Now, we hope all of you take the next step and either sign up for a photog-raphy session or submit a family photo.

Thank You
We just want to shout out a huge thank you! All who helped, donated, baked, etc., It takes many hands and feet to pull off a rummage sale like that. The funds ($1,280) will be used for 26 new backpacks, school supplies, shoes, and uni-forms. This is a huge blessing.
Curt & Kelly VanEkeren
The Good Life Grace is easy. Life is hard. So follow Jesus if you must, seek the face of God if you must, but don’t be surprised if, after a while, it feels like you’ve been battling angels in the darkness. Seeking God’s face in a fallen world is not the easy life; it’s the good life, and a good life is always a life of worthwhile stories and worthwhile struggles.
Summer Office Hours
Summer office hours at the church may vary from time to time. Please call ahead if you plan on coming to the church in the afternoon or on a Friday to make sure we are available.
