Go to your Gmail Inbox. (emails have been blurred to
protect the innocent!)
In the search bar enter: after: date before: date
with format as on following screen.
Select all emails on screen by clicking the top check
box.
Click on “Select all messages that match this
search.”
Click on the label icon and then “Create new.”
Enter a new label name such as “2013 Emails.”
Click OK.
Now your selected emails should have two labels: Inbox and the one you
created.
Click on the Archive icon to remove these selected
emails from your Inbox.
Now your Inbox for this date range should be empty.
All of those emails are in your new label.
Repeat for other years.
Clear the search dates and click on Inbox in the sidebar to see your greatly reduced
number of emails. I’m down to 297!

Start fresh now in 2015 with an empty Inbox!
Search and label all past years. You can clean them
out later.
“No new mail” feels so good!
