TraCS/ELVIS Program Timeline• FY 2003 – TraCS Florida project started at Florida State

University• FY 2008 – Amy Cochran joins the TraCS Project• FY 2009 – Zoe Williams joins the TraCS Project• FY 2009 – First electronic crashes submitted to DHSMV (DMV)• FY 2014 – ELVIS project started at Florida State University• FY 2015 – ELVIS funded for its second year

In Florida, TraCS has been in use for about 12 years. ELVIS has just completed its first fiscal year.

What is TraCS?• Traffic and Criminal Software• Report writing software

development kit (SDK) developed by Technology Enterprise Group, Inc.• Allows law enforcement to quickly

create citations, crash reports, etc.

• Provides entry validation to improve accuracy of data collection and tools to allow import from outside data sources (GIS, CAD, etc.)• Customizable to meet your state’s data collection requirements• Includes RMS features such as ad hoc queries and master name index• Allows data import and export in XML, PDF, JPG, etc.

What is ELVIS?• Electronic License and Vehicle

Information System• Improves officer safety by

returning information about “hot files” and reducing time on scene hand keying data on forms

• Primarily a tool for querying driver license and vehicle registration data through FCIC/NCIC (FDLE) and making that information accessible to other applications, such as report writing software (Crash Form, Citation, etc.)• Additionally provides driver pictures, criminal history, driver history, etc.• Designed with ease of use as first priority and mobile device ready

anywhere on the web (desktop, mobile)

TraCS Usage Statistics FY 14-15• TraCS is currently in use in 13 states as well as Manatoba,

Canada.

• TraCS Florida has 14,000 users across 165 agencies• TraCS submits 1/3 of Florida’s crashes every year (over 100,000)

• Crashes submitted by TraCS have a 99.9% load rate into the state repository
