Lay Ministry Schedule
Pro-life Reflection: Every January tens of thousands of Ameri-
cans participate in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., or
West Coast Walk for Life in San Francisco.
These events give public witness that most
Americans want to see unborn children pro-
tected, and enable all who participate to be
renewed in their convictions and determina-
tion to work for that protection. Prayer:
Lord, bless all those who [each year] march
for life, and the many more who labor for
life in their own communities every day.
Attention St. Joseph 2018 (EF) Confirmandi
Please contact the Priory Office this week if your child wishes
to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in 2018. The Dio-
cese is seeking initial head counts. Confirmation registration
must be completed, and copies of their prior sacramental
records with registration fee, submitted to Sandi in the Priory
office, no later than January 10, 2018. Please plan ahead and
begin preparations early, as record retrieval from other
churches can take up to several weeks to receive.
Faith Formation Program
Classes: Sundays 9:15am-10:15am
Downstairs in the Madden Center ~ Patti Schwartz, Director ~
Jesus said to Simon and Andrew, “Follow me, and I
will make you fishers of men. So they abandoned
their nets and followed him,” (Mark 1:17-18). What
does this mean? Jesus, the great teacher, wants us
to set aside what we are busy doing, come spend
time with him, and learn from him. Come to faith
formation classes to find out how Jesus wants to
make you a fisher of men.
Attention registered St. Joseph Church
members: If you were: a registered member
of St. Joseph Church at any time during 2017
and used offertory envelopes, and would like
a copy of your offertory tax statement,
please contact the office and
request a copy at any time. There is
no rush and no cut-off date for
your requests. Tax statements will
be mailed in a timely manner, but
only upon request. Thank you.
Tis the season for computer glitches… If you have not received
The Evangelist or your offertory envelopes (established orders
only, not new orders), or if you have updates to your contact
info, please call the office and let Sandi know. As a reminder,
envelope corrections (name, address, and typographical errors)
are made by us with our printing service upon your request, but
updates can take them up to a month to process on their end.

Sudden Service Sunday 1/28/2018
In co-operation with Troy Architecture and Preservation, Inc (TAP) and their partner organization, the Historic Albany Foundation, we are planning to open our doors to their constituents at our 12:00pm Latin Liturgy on January 28, 2018 for what may best be described as an architecture “flash mob.” In addition to offering the Ancient Liturgy of the Holy Sepulcher, we will provide a tour of our Louis Comfort Tiffany Windows of the "Iron Workers Church," including a brief historical context. In November of 2017 a very enthusiastic group of 20 Tiffany and Architecture lovers joined with the parish and experienced the priceless architecture and ornamentation of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Troy. Guests viewed St. John’s recent restorations, after workers removed years of candle soot revealing chapel murals attributed to the muralist and Tiffany mosaic master, Jacob Adolphus Holzer, while chimer, Andrew Mace, played St. John’s rare 11-bell Meneely chime. The tour they enjoyed after the service added much more to the exciting flash mob experience. We want to share St. Joseph Church’s beauty and parish family with all our neighbors and residents. All are welcome to come and enjoy both the Tiffany & Architecture flash mob Mass and Tour. Come for what you can offer – warmth, knowledge, history, and friendship. But, also, come for the heavenly gifts you will receive – Eucharist, the Holy Mass, beauty, wonder, and awe. All are welcome.
