LETTER FROM YOUR PRESIDENT: Dear Members, Happy Spring! Although we had a few mild days in February, I look forward to more of them in March. I want to thank all of the members who participated in the Breakfast Potluck in February and all of the wonderful food we had. We added a new member at the Potluck because of the food! Thank all of you for signing up to help at the Chili Fundraiser this month. I really am grateful to know so many wonderful, creative artists who put “their money where their mouths are”. They believe in supporting art and that’s exactly what they do. Keep creating! Linda Carr, President

WAYS & MEANS: Susan Midelton THE BIG PAYBACK IS COMING MAY 2
ND:
The Big Payback is coming once again on
May 2, 2018. For 24 hours, we all have the
opportunity to donate to our favorite non-profits in middle Tennessee, including the
Fairfield Glade Art Guild. Last year we
received over $1500 in donations from
members, businesses, and the general public. This year our goal
is $2000+ . We can do this! The minimum donation online to
The Big Payback is $10.00 on May 2. For those members and
the public who prefer to donate by cash or check, Susan
Midelton, Art Guild grant writer, will be at the PCAC from 11 –
2 PM on May 2 to accept donations. The Big Question from donors is, where does the money go?
Quick answers: 1. The Guild has awarded $13,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors majoring in an art
related field in the past 12 years.
2. The Guild has offered 10 free art classes, in a variety of
media, each summer to over 200 children in the past 4 years.
3. The Guild offers free art classes to homeschooled children
during the school year.
4. The Guild has established a popular adult outreach art
program at Fair Park Senior Center attended by over 150 seniors
for the low fee of $5.00, per student, per class. Look for more information on The Big Payback on May 2 in
future Art-i-facts and Eblasts!
GRANT AWARDED TO THE ART GUILD: The Art Guild at Fairfield Glade has
recently received a $1200 grant so that it
can continue providing art classes at the
Fair Park Senior Center in Crossville
beginning in the spring of 2018. The grant
was given by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable
organization dedicated to enriching the quality of life in the 40
Middle Tennessee counties that it serves. Linda Carr, President
of the Art Guild, commented, “We are so pleased to receive this
grant from the Community Foundation, because it helps the Art
Guild fulfill one of our goals, which is reaching out to the
surrounding community. It’s a very satisfying, positive
experience for us to offer classes at the Fair Park Senior Center.” The mission of the Art Guild is to present art through education,
exhibitions, and participation in community outreach events.
2018 will be the third year that the Art Guild will offer a variety of art classes at the Fair Park Senior Center including
watercolors, jewelry design, basic drawing, colored pencil, oil
painting, and photography at a nominal fee to seniors. Classes
are taught by Art Guild member/instructors. Photo caption: Billie Faye Brannon, AG instructor for Colored Pencil Class at
