•6/12 - The first 3/12 are not on call - ENJOY!

•Familiarise yourself with the department/system/logistics.

•Basic reading and fundamental knowledge.

•Start thinking about what you are doing.

Month 1

Month 2

•Decide on a schedule to achieve the 17 competencies that make up the IAC.

•Start working through them.

•Maximise you learning opportunities

•If in doubt, ask.

Month 3

•Complete any outstanding WPBA for the IAC.

•Get the IAC signed

•Start on the on call rota!

Months 3-6

•Enjoy the on-call - it’s hard work but fun! (honest).

•If ACCS Anaesthesia - keep working through the WPBA for the basic training certificate - remember e-learning.

•Look to maximise exposure to different anaesthetic techniques which may help with other specialities - femoral nerve blocks, CVC insertion etc.

•AUDIT!

•Ensure all the paperwork is tied up well before the ARCP!
