What was the Age of Reason?

The Age of Reason was a movement in Europe that spread to America that advocated the use of reason and individualism instead of tradition and established doctrine.

Richard Steele (1672-1729)

Sir Richard Steele was an Irish writer and politician. He is remembered as the co-founder of the magazine The Spectator. Other pieces he wrote include: Isaac Bickestaff, and Essays and Tales & Days with Sit Roger de Coverley.

John Locke is famous for writing The Social Contract. In this piece, he was arguing that all governments should have a contract between the rulers and those who are ruled.
