The AccessArt Village is a participatory project run by AccessArt, a UK education charity which supports and inspires teaching and learning in the visual arts.

The project was supported by Appletons Wool and aimed to inspire individuals, of all ages and abilities, to contribute a ‘sewn drawing’ of their home, as part of a larger, collaborative artwork.

The resulting installation of over 700 3D models co-created by the AccessArt Team, juxtaposes work by children at the start of their creative lives next to that of accomplished artists and older generations.

Whilst highlighting the character and individually of each piece, the project celebrates diversity and reminds us of the universal sanctity of “home”.

Most poignant are those contributed by individuals who, for reasons of health or vulnerability, were away from home when they made their creations.

With a very special thanks to Andrea Butler for designing the AccessArt Village installation and coordinating the project and this tour.
