Hello everyone,
I would like to say thank you to all the students, staff and families and friends of East Para Primary School who have made me feel so welcome.
During my first week I have visited all classrooms and learning spaces. I have met with the Chairperson of the Governing Council, the E.P.P.S. Leadership Team and begun meetings with all staff.
I have heard and read about exciting and engaging school programs such as the Pedal Prix, the School Choir, the Instrumental Music Program, and the school’s sporting teams. I have spent time at O.S.H.C. and heard from Joel about the school’s much valued and supported O.S.H.C. service.
I was also very fortunate to attend the final school concert on Tuesday 18th
October. It was great to see the strong community support of our students. The concert show-cased the strength and importance of Performing Arts at EPPS.
I have seen and observed the school ‘RITCHR’ values in action, from before school, in the classrooms and at recess and lunch.
I commend all who have contributed to the outstanding school and community at EPPS and extend to everyone ‘an open’ door to meet and talk with me.
I look forward to working with our students, staff and parents to continue to build a community focussed on successful outcomes for all our students. Warm regards, Ros
Please see below a resource specifically targeted at parents. As the SAPOL presentation was postponed until early 2017, I thought you may be interested in visiting the site below. It is the most recent Government publication regarding Cyber-safety.
Please feel free to make a time to meet with your child’s teacher or myself if you do have any concerns regarding their use of the internet or more specifically social media.
Regards, Aaron McPherson

Welcome back to an exciting Term 4. On behalf of the school community, I would like to welcome Ros to East Para Primary School.
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Jodie Mickel, Teresa Norsworthy and I attended our final Quick Smart training sessions. We have been privileged to attend 6 sessions over the last three terms enabling us to become Quick Smart Facilitators.
Quick Smart is a Numeracy Intervention Program which promotes automaticity with number facts. Automaticity frees up working memory allowing students to concentrate on other areas of Maths such as Problem Solving. In Term 2, 12 Year 5 students were selected to participated in our Quick Smart Program and throughout the year they have worked steadily and enthusiastically to improve their retention of number facts.
Jodie and Teresa have reported that all students have made significant improvement in their addition and subtraction facts and have displayed an increase in their number fact confidence.
Regards, Deb Gustainis
At EPPS, our RITCHR values are very important and are the
basis for how we work and behave as a school community.
Daily we see students at EPPS use Respect, Integrity, Trust,
Caring, Honesty and Responsibility, so at assembly each
week, we will acknowledge students who use these values
consistently. Week 1 Term 4 Week 1

Kaylee from Miss Cresswell’s class performed in the “King and I” in October at the Arts Theatre as one of the Kings Princesses. The photo shows Kaylee being presented to Anna, who came to Siam as a school teacher to the royal court in the 1860’s. Kaylee had many months of rehearsals and did a very professional performance.

Room 11, 20 and 23, have begun the Term in PE using Pedometers. Students have explored how they work and what readings the pedometer can display. Each lesson students record how many steps they take and the type of activity. Over 1200 steps is the average step count for a student in a lesson.
Congratulations to Tyrin from Room 23 who recorded a school record for Week 1 of 3393 steps! He was really moving!
During lunchtimes on Thursday and Friday this term, students are welcome into Room 2 to participate in board games and use the schools exercise bikes. These sessions started in Week 1 with an enthusiastic crowd.
Thank you to TRYSPORT which have begun running lunchtime clinics at our
school. The FREE program will run for the next three weeks on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. These clinics will give our students another chance to practise their skills in basketball and offer a
pathway into the game through Modbury’s Basketball Program.
