Principal’s Report SAS Recognition Week The school community is made up of a lot of different people, all of whom play a part in the running of schools and the provision of quality education to students. School Administrative and Support Staff, whether they work in the office, the library, on the school grounds or in a classroom setting, are important contributors to the success of the school and children’s education. I would like to recognise the support staff at Hay Public School who include: Mrs Joanne Dunn, Mrs Samantha Sorensen, Mrs Kerri Mijok, Mrs Ruth Headon, Mrs Anna Lilburne, Mrs Debbie Jones, Mrs Cate Gaston, Ms Kirsten Hutchings, Miss Laura Zambon, Miss Monica Andrews, Miss Lucy Pless, Miss Lauren Argent, Mr Lloyd Brettschneider and Mr Ted Brettschneider. I would like to thank them for supporting our students on a daily basis and for their dedicated contributions to Hay Public School.
Riverina PSSA Athletics Carnival Good luck to our sixteen athletes who will be representing the school in the Riverina PSSA Athletics Trials in Albury on Friday. Our students have all been training hard to prepare for these trials and I wish them every success. Thank you to Mrs Houston and Mrs Clarke for assisting with athletics training.
Hay Public School – 150 Year Celebrations The school is preparing for its 150 year celebrations that will be held on the 20th (Friday) and 21st (Saturday)
September. On the Friday night, all students and families are invited to attend a free family bush dance. This will be held in the War Memorial Hall across the road from the school. Students are asked to attend the formal celebrations on Saturday morning where an assembly will be held to welcome visitors to our school. They are asked to dress in their school uniforms unless performing on the day. Following the assembly, the school will be open for visitors to enjoy a morning tea and a walk through the classrooms. Please indicate to the front office if you are attending the bush dance and the trivia night on Saturday night. Bookings are essential.
Attendance Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. NSW public schools work in partnership with parents to encourage and support regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children. If a student misses as little as 8 days in a school term, by the end of primary school they’ll have missed over a year of school.
Have a great week!
