CAT.POL.H.305 - HIGHLIGHTS

CAT.POL.H.305/420 - InnledningPerformance class 3 – GenereltNon-congested, hostile environment – Safe forcedlanding• CAT.POL.H.400 – General• CAT.POL.H.405 – Take off• CAT.POL.H.410 – En-route• CAT.POL.H.415 - LandingCAT.POL.H.420 -Operations over non-congested hostile environment

Non-congested, hostile environment

over de store skogsområdene.• Ingen land tok regelen i bruk

CAT.POL.H.305/420– EASA 28.10.2014

• Flyttet reglene stort sett ordrett over fra JAR Ops 3.• Er derigjennom blitt et krav for CAT• Gjelder ikke SPO (Commersial Specialised

Operations)• Gjelder i ytelsesklasse 3• Få land har så langt tatt den i bruk (sett gjennom

fingrene)• Krever form for UMS• Utelukker en del fartøytyper (eldre turbin og piston)

CAT.POL.H.305 - Operations without an assured safe forced landing capability

a) Operations without an assured safe forced landing capability during the take-off and landing phases shall only be conducted if the operator has been granted an approval by the competent authority.

b) To obtain and maintain such approval the operator shall:1) conduct a risk assessment, specifying:

i. the type of helicopter; andii. the type of operations;

2) implement the following set of conditions:i. attain and maintain the helicopter/engine modification standard defined by the manufacturer;ii. conduct the preventive maintenance actions recommended by the helicopter or engine

manufacturer;iii. include take-off and landing procedures in the operations manual, where they do not already

exist in the AFM;iv. specify training for flight crew; andv. provide a system for reporting to the manufacturer loss of power, engine shutdown or engine

failure events;and3) implement a usage monitoring system (UMS).

EASA OPS – Powerplant sudden in-service power loss calculation

With regards to EASA-OPS Part CAT (EU Regulation n° 965/2012) AMC1 CAT POL H

305(b), Airbus Helicopters have to calculate the sudden in-service power loss rate, for

some engine / helicopter families.

Airbus Helicopters uses the data given by the engine manufacturer (Turbomeca) coming

from a yearly commonly AH/Turbomeca checked data basis. The methodology, based on

the one defined in EASA-OPS AMC1 CAT POL H305(b), is reminded hereafter.

Airbus Helicopters modify the rate given by the engine manufacturer using the

methodology explained hereafter and taking into account the powerplant failures.

Results:

Period: 2011 to 2015

Engine Flight Hours: 2 772070 hours

Correctives actions taken into account for calculation:

• For the engine: Nothing

• For the helicopter: ASB N° 05.00.61//05.00.41//05A009.

Number of corrected power losses due to the engine: 4,5 (1)

Number of corrected power losses due to the helicopter: 0;5 (1)

(1) Refer to Tables enclosed here after

So, the sudden power loss rate for the helicopter/engine is:

(4,5+0,5)/: 2 772070 = 0,18 E-5/Engine hour with corrective actions
