Thomas Thwaites
How I build a toaster from scratch
TED Commandments Thomas Followed
• 3: Make the complex plain• 4: Connect with people emotions• 9: End the talk on time
Taking a toaster apart and showing the audience how many components are actually inside then explained the story on how he built one himself.
Connects with the audience through the humor and his journey of making a toaster.
Thomas’s talk ended on Time
Tips used from Garr Reynolds and Nancy Duarte were humor and storytelling.
5/5 for Dynamism
• One thing I believed that could of made his talk better would have been to adjust the lighting as it was slightly dark.
I learned that a good delivery is both by the speaker along with slides or clips to help prove points and keep the audience
entertained.
Ken’s talk was on a more serious topic, while Thomas was more inventive.
•
Both Ken Robinson and Thomas Thwaites are humorous and informative.
