• Some previous ideas from the World War I were developed for WWII.

WEAPONERY

SHIPS

• There was no time to build new ones

• The old ones (U-Boat, Aircraft carriers etc.) were modified

• Had to avoid restrictions made by the Treaty of Versailles

• Very important for the war

• U-Boats played a significant role

U-BOAT- Used by Germans

- Snorkel added

JAPANESE WAR CARRIER „SHINANO”

- Largest aircraft carrier

- Destroyed by submarine

DEUTSCHLAND CLASS CRUISER

- Diesel engine

- Made to avoid the restrictions caused by

The Treaty Of Versaille

HOSPITAL SHIPS

- Hospitals on

water

BOMBS

• Cluser bombs

• Blockbuster bombs

• Drum bombs

• Bunker bombs

INNOVATIONS

• Paratroopers

• Radio

• More bombs used

• Can’t use gas

Kamikaze

NUCLEAR BOMB

- Manhattan Project

- Supported by Canada, the

United States and the Great

Britain

- 1942 – 1946

- J. Robert Oppenheimer

• Nuclear power and missiles were

used, modern concepts of covert and

special operations. Submarines and

communication became more

complex. Germany used the Blitzkrieg

fighting method.

• War of ideologies, such as Fascism

and Communism.

supported by artillery and machine

guns, infantry assault, tanks, early

airplanes and poisonous gas. Mostly

static in nature, mobility was minimal.
