Dear Parents
It was great seeing so many parents and
families at our end of term assembly last Friday,
who came along to support and recognise the
achievements of students in the past term. Lots
of gold, silver, class and principals awards were
given out with everyone in the school achieving
levels beyond bronze this year. The Robotics
team were recognised for their outstanding
achievements as they demonstrated their
excellent multi-media presentation that they
have been working on this term. Hollie and
Ashley then concluded the assembly with the
Principals address and lots of celebrations all
round.
The day got even better, with the P&C Auction
on Friday night. It was an outstanding success; a
great community night with delicious Indonesian
food which was enjoyed by all. I want to thank
the hard working parents led by P&C president
Gretchen Highfield, the chefs, all the mums,
dads, grandparents and sponsors who all so
kindly donated time and prizes. It was a very
proud moment as I sat in the packed surf club
of people at such a happy collaborative
community event, genuinely touched for the
support of our village school. A heartfelt thank-
you from all the students and staff to all the
friends and community members who came
along to make the night a huge success.
On Monday weekly assembly we had a
presentation by a few of our students who took
part in the Climate Day walk which was
inspirational for their interest in the
environment. All the swimming certificates
were given out to all the students who all
throughout the week of intensive swimming
either at the pool or beach had certainly
improved. Thanks to the representatives from
the NRL who after the assembly gave out NRL
footballs to all students in Year 2-6 and books
and certificates to K-1.
It is with much regret to let you all know, that I
will be unable to attend all the end of year
celebrations next week as I need to return to
Victoria as I have had the passing of a very
close relative. I want to take this opportunity to
thank all the staff, students, family and
community for your support this year and I am
very proud of our achievements in
2015. Thanks to all the staff that are leaving;
Anna, Mel, Inekia, Tim, Kurt and Tom for your
contributions to the students, staff and
community. We wish you well in your future
career paths. I wish everybody a happy,
relaxing, safe holiday break. Enjoy!

Gold and Silver day was a great
success. The gold students with the
staff who now have the qualifications of Surf Bronze medallion, had
the opportunity to participate in supervised swimming and beach
activities. These included beach walking, a sand sculpture
competition, fitness, swimming and flags. The students who had
already participated in the surf safety week 8, had the opportunity
to use the surf paddle boards as one their activities. Thanks to Cath
O’Donnell, Peter and Ralph from the surf club who helped supervise our students.
The silver students had water activities with Pak Roy at school and enjoyed
themselves. All students then had a lunch of pizza made by the local
bakery which was very delicious. Then the afternoon was relaxed with a
variety of choices of movie, games and a cool ice cup to finish off a great
day. Thanks to all the staff for your input and Jenny Medica for coming
along to lend a hand.
What a week of activities and celebration. Starting with two students from the
Year 6 class, stepping up to experience what it is like being Principal for a Day.
Hollie and Ashley did a great job which involved them from sorting out issues in the Yarning Circle with students, to
arranging calendar events for 2016 and everything in between. They were a great help and I have been more than
impressed in their interest and level of involvement that has occurred throughout this week with the follow up after last
Friday. Mrs Stuart.
“The 4th of December is Principal for a day. Last term the whole of 4/5/6 wrote a speech saying why they think they
or someone else should be Principal for a day we all read them to Mrs Stuart and Mr Johnson.
Mrs Stuart approved our speeches and the winners were Hollie Wicks and Ashley
Williams it was announced at Monday morning assembly. Thank you”. Hollie Wicks
“On the 3rd of December, The year six’s went to Macksville high school for their
transitions to high school. It was really fun; they went into different classes such as HSIE,
Drama, Food Tech and Indonesian.
At ten past three we all went to the cola area and got picked up by our parents or got on
different buses. Thank you”. Ashley Williams
The Kindys and the mums for 2016 had a great time at the Teddy Bears Picnic, which was in the playground down near
the beach. There were lots of favourite toys which included lots of animals and bikes. The students and the families had
an opportunity to meet and greet the new Kindy teacher Bettina Core. Thanks to all the families who came along a great
time was had by all.

School News
P&C News The End of Year Fundraising Auction was a phenomenal success!
Not only was it a financial success, there were approximately
130 people who attended and we made just short of
$6800....yes six thousand, eight hundred dollars!
But also an ethical and environmental success.
Ethically, we involved so many people in the organisation,
running of the night, attendance and contributions that now the
wider community feel an attachment to our little school.
Everyone who wished to, had a role to play and everyone did an
amazing job!
Environmentally we used no excess plastic, shopped locally and
used biodegradable bamboo plates. The food was delicious,
music was fabulous and it all ran smoothly.
MOST OF ALL IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
Big thanks once again to the organising committee, Libby, Tash,
Dominique, Emmy, Sandrine, Stacey and Gillian, without whom
it would never have happened! Thanks also to Richie Donovan
for his inspiring, powerful "Welcome to Country." Thanks to the
Surf Club for everything!
Massive thanks to everyone who donated the thousands of
dollars worth of prizes and of course to Michael Ettleson our
Auctioneer and to all the Bidders!
Sincerely and joyously, Gretchen Highfield, President P&C 2015.
Our Fundraising Auction was an
overwhelming success however
