Evaluation

• Questions answered individually

• What could the instructor do that would help most to improve the course?

• Ways in which members have helped your team to be successful and identify the member(s) who are particularly good at each so you can share your perceptions with the team.

• What could members of your team have done that would have helped to improve your team’s performance?

• Questions answered by group

• What could the instructor do that would help most to improve the course?

• What helping behaviours have been most important to the success of your team?

• What things could members of your team have done that would help most to improve your team’s performance?

Comments

• #1 – Improvements instructor could make

• Nothing. I enjoyed the course. Thought it was helpful. Participating and talking to class member helped us learn more.

• Liked the course – it was nice to do work inside class rather than outside.

• Thought everything went smoothly.

• Let class pick group member.

• Teach before the RATs

• Make the exam a RAT

• Take attendance rather than have us do it because I do not like to mark team member absent.

• Explain the assignments better before decisions are made about assigning grade values.

Comments

• #2 – Behaviours that helped the team

• People came prepared

• Preparation before the RATs helped to improve results of team testing.

• Discussing the answers before the final RAT decision helped a lot.

• We all showed up, we did the required readings, we all got along and respected each others’ opinions.

• We can get along really well and our meetings are filled with laughter.

• Overall group understanding of concepts was really good.

Comments

• # 3 – What team members could do to improve team performance

• Better attendance

• Read the material more

• Even more preparation before class

• More input from all group members

• Stand up for what you think

• Respect everyone’s opinions

What I learned

• It takes organization

• It takes great record keeping

• It takes trust in the students and faith in the process

• Make sure they understand the assignments before assigning the marking values

• Should start early in a program and be in all years

• Not suited for all courses
