• Tail 9 to 12 inches, body 20 to 31 inches long, weighs 9 to 26 pounds

Behavioral Characteristics

• Hunt at night

• Stay on ground, can climb trees

• During daytime, hide in a shelter

Habitat

• Tasmania, off the southern coast of Australia

• Brushy or wooded area

• Used to live in Australia, dogs killed them

Food Preferences

• Eat meat

• Wallaby, wombat, sheep, rabbit

Interesting Facts

• Marsupial babies stay in pouch for 15 weeks

• Cousin to marsupial mice and squirrel-like marsupials
