COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course introduces the basic tools and safety andtechnical information required by the skilled trades.Topics covered include non-precision and precisionmeasurement tools and methods, layout tools and
techniques, hand and bench tools, drills and drillingmachines, principles of metal cutting and metal cuttingsaws, and pedestal grinders. Manufacturing processesare discussed.

COURSE GOALS:
1. To provide the knowledge and skills to become familiar
with basic industrial tool operating practices andprinciples.2. To provide a foundation of skills and understandings of

COURSE ASSESSMENT:
QUIZZES:
Best 6 of 7 accounts for 30% of semester grade. Thismeans the lowest of 7 quizzes will be dropped. Therewill be no make-ups on missed quizzes. The first quizmissed will be dropped. Any additional missed quizzeswill be recorded as a 0 or zero. All quizzes will be
administered with closed books and no notes allowedand only during regularly scheduled class periods.

Completed assigned competencies account for 70% ofsemester grade. Each individual competency will beequal to 1/14th of this grade. Incomplete competencieswill be recorded as zero.

No excused absences. Maximum allowable number is
three (3). The fourth (4th) absence means automaticfailure but the class can still be attended.
