IN STEP WITH THE MASTER
The Agent
In an arranged marriage a mediator plans
an important role. His mission is to see if a
marriage can be arranged between the
son of those who sent him and the daugh-
ter of those to whom he was sent. It hap-
pened the same way in ancient times.
Abraham sent his servant to a foreign land
to find a bride for his son Isaac. So the
servant embarked on the journey, bringing
with him Abraham’s treasures as gifts for
the bride. He ended up meeting the young woman Rebekah. After saying yes to the
proposal of marriage, Rebekah embarked with the man on a journey back to the tents
of Abraham where she would, for time see Isaac face to face.
There’s a mystery there.
Abraham offered up Isaac as a sacrifice. Not long after that comes the account of
Isaac’s bride. To what would that correspond
The offering of Isaac foreshadows the sacrifice of Messiah. So after Messiah’s sacrifice
comes the search for the bride and the bride is the church and each of us.
And whose mission then begins?
The Spirit of God. The Spirit’s mission is especially to the bride.
Yes. The Spirit is the Agent, the Agent of Father, the Agent of God and the Spirit
comes to the bride and shares with her of the Father and the Son and draws her to
them and the Spirit comes bearing gifts from the Father to the bride, the gifts of the
Spirit. The Spirit leads the bride on a journey to the Son and the Father. And do you
know what the name of Abraham’s servant was? Eliezer. And do you know what
Eliezer means? It means “my god is the helper”. And what is Spirit called? The Helper.
So you’re never alone, not one moment of your life. You have one beside you, who is
the Agent of God…For alongside you in your journey is God, your Helper.”
The Mission: Live today in the awareness that you are not alone. God himself dwells
with you in the Spirit. Live as one with whom He is present.

FAMILY FOCUS Dr Novin Chacko
(Dr Novin is a consultant Anesthetist and Dr Angel is a Psychiatrist )
It was a dream come true, when God granted me an opportunity to pursue medicine as a career. I am
grateful to God for providing me Dr. Beena as a mentor, a
vibrant fellowship and my believer batch mates. During
the various fellowship meetings attended , I was deeply
impacted by many seniors who ventured into missions
and were instrumental to bring about transformation of
the community they served. I too whispered in my heart
and to GOD, that I too would like to do this. We visited a
couple of mission hospitals to get a first hand experience,
of which one was Duncan hospital (in 2008).
I am grateful to God for Dr Mathew, Dr Latha ,Dr Philip ,
Dr Joji and Dr Mini for broadening my vision about mis-
sion. There was so much need for medical expertise in
these remote areas of our country.
After internship I was confused about what to do with my career. My sister in US wanted me to do
USMLE coaching. Thinking about going to US, my heart was not at peace. There was so much need for
doctors in our own country, then why go abroad. So I shifted focus to NEET coaching. My batch mate Dr
Steive had decided to come and work in Duncan Hospital. But I enrolled for a one year coaching program,
and before the coaching started I came again to DUNACN for 2 months along with him. Towards the end
of 2 months I again was in a dilemma whether to continue or not. Cutting short I had to take a bold deci-
sion to stay back despite pressure from my parents to join for entrance coaching. We had a wonderful
group of friends working together tirelessly and enjoyed the fellowship. There was a constant struggle in
my mind about getting into PG and I used to compare myself with my friends who were preparing in en-
trance coaching centres. Looking back those two years were a blessing where God equipped me to com-
plete a family medicine course and the needed skills to be a doctor trained in various specialties. As Dr
Mathew used to say “ you may leave Duncan but Duncan will not leave you.”
By God’s grace I could get into a postgraduate course in CMC Vellore though it was not my preferred spe-
cialty. Over the years God convinced me that Anesthesia was Hs plan for my future. God blessed me with
my wife Angel who was open to my commitment towards missions. God continued to bless our family life
and gave us Nathaniel. On nearing of completing post graduation, I was wondering where I would be
posted for my service obligation. I wanted to go to a mission hospital which had good roads, as I has a car
by then. When I got the mail from central office , I was mixed feelings—twas Raxaul. I again had a battle
of thoughts of what to do with car as roads are bad . GOD reminded me that I should not place anything
more valuable than HIM and His Call in my heart. We joined Duncan family again now a big blessed team
of junior doctors and consultants. Looking back, God has been Ebenezer to us and He will be Faithful to
us till the very end.
