As school starts back and we move to our fall schedule, there are
multiple opportunities for men, women and couples to be involved in
discipleship beginning in August. Here are details on the upcoming classes. Find
your fit and get plugged into discipleship.
Beth Moore’s Loving Well: This Bible study contains heart-to-
heart messages designed to help women embrace the biblical
mandate to love and to develop skills for loving others. Women's
group study will begin on Wednesday, August 9th at 6 p.m. in
Room 177.
A Woman Who Doesn’t Quit: Perseverance is one of the greatest skills but
also the hardest lessons we will learn in our lifetime. We are living in a day
where we are encouraged to do life based on how we feel. But the problem
is most days we don't feel like doing much of anything hard.
Ruth is much more than a Bible story and through her life we
uncover five life-giving habits that help us to persevere when
things get hard, complicated, and messy. These habits show
how success is not achieved by pursuing temporary desires.
The direction of our lives needs to be far less about to-do lists
and accomplishments and instead focus on becoming the people God can
count on. This study starts Wednesday, August 9th at 6 p.m. in Room 143A
and will be led by Casey Overstreet.
Women’s Wellness Class: Bonny Warren will lead this class which will
explore Jennifer Brindley Webster’s, R.D., 7 Secrets of Weight Loss for four
Sundays starting August 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Family
Life Center. After those four weeks the class will move
to full workouts on Wednesday and Sunday evenings at
5:30 p.m. through October. Learn how to get fit
through better nutrition and exercise.
33 The Series — A Man and His Traps: This volume of 33 The
Series challenges and equips men to go below the surface, to
look deep into their hearts and explore some areas that are all
too easy to ignore but that are critical in their journey towards
Authentic Manhood. Groups will start meeting on Sunday,
August 13th & Wednesday, August 16th. Sign-up is available in
the Welcome Center or by emailing tj@fbccookeville.org.

Sacred Marriage: Scores of books have been written that offer guidance for
building the marriage of your dreams. Yet, what if God's primary intent for
your marriage isn't to make you happy . . . but holy? And, what if
your relationship isn't as much about you and your spouse as it is
about you and God? Join us and uncover how your marriage can
become a doorway to a closer walk with God and each other. This
group meets Sundays starting August 13 at 5:30 p.m. led by TJ &
Casey Overstreet.
Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven: Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven will
answer and clarify the questions Christians have about their future
eternal home. Pastor David Jeremiah provides answers to
questions about the nature of heaven, the kinds of bodies
heaven's occupants will have, why heaven will never be boring,
and the dwelling place God is preparing for Christians in heaven.
Answers to those questions and more are revealed in this 11 week
topic series. Begins Sunday, August 20th at 5 p.m. in the Chapel and led by Jim
Mitchell.
DISCIPLESHIP (Continued from Page 1)
It seems just like yesterday that school was ending. Now we are just days away from the school year starting. With school starting, we will see a schedule change as our choir and mission programs resume. In an effort to bring alignment to all of our children, youth and adult activities, there will be a schedule change from previous years that will move children and youth choirs to Sunday nights
joining scripture memory. The desire of our pastors along with leaders in our various activities is to provide a schedule of activities where there is something for all members, prospects and guests of the
church at the same time. As a church we want to make disciples of all ages a priority and this schedule gives us a greater opportunity to accomplish that vision. We will kick off our school year schedule with The Churn on August 6th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. We want to invite the whole church to come together for worship, fun, and some ice cream sundaes. Come that Sunday night to get your kids registered for the year and spend time with the Cookeville First Baptist family. Then on August 9th we will begin our new schedule of activities. We are excited for what the Lord will do this year throughout all our ministries.
