CVEN 689 Context Sensitive Solutions in Transportation Planning, Environmental Analysis and Design

Course Description: This course teaches students about the concept of context sensitive solutions (CSS) as applied to planning, analyzing environmental impacts, and design of transportation facilities. It is particularly oriented using CSS to make transportation projects more desirable to the community.

Students will learn and how to build consensus, make transportation facilities compatible and supportive of transportation and other local objectives, the environment, and the surrounding area. The course will focus on the concepts of CSS in a lecture, discussion, and reading format, complimented with some exercises and a class project to illustrate specific principles involved in the subject matter.
