Manager's Insight
Well hello Southport Springs residents! How is everyone doing? I for one am
getting greyer by the minute with all these CAPEX projects. Just a quick update. I
am hoping by the time you are reading this the pool is at least open or will be
shortly opening. Once the fence and signs go up we should be ok to open according
to the board of health. We may not be 100% complete, but we can at least OPEN.
The landscaping should be almost complete as well. The front sign is getting its
makeover and should be almost complete within the first week to two weeks of the
month. I think for the most part we are almost done. At least till June, then we
start all over again and I start collecting more grey hairs again.
Once the pool is 100% complete we will be hosting a grand opening of the pool.
So please look for that date in March.
But what do you all think of the properties makeover, so far? I have to tell you I
am very pleased with the progress we have made in just a short while.
We are becoming the gossip of Zephyrhills, FL.
My next goal is to be the talk of Sun Communities.
I told you we will be the best property in Sun Portfolio.
So Happy Valentines month and be good to each other.
Gate Codes
For your convenience there is now a new way to let yourself into the gate if you
have forgotten your pass or for some reason it's not working. You will now have a
code allotted to your lot number.
From now on you can go to the call box and punch in #0 and your lot number. If you
have a one or two digit lot number you will enter #00 lot number or #000 lot
number. These numbers are for your use only. If for any reason you need to give
this number out please come see us in the office so that we can change you access
code. This is to keep the safety of you and the community. If you have any
questions give the office a call and we will assist you.
Confidential Information
Due to the Privacy Act the community office will not give out any information to
anyone (including relatives) other than the resident themselves. We will ask for
the parties name and number, then contact the resident. If you have a Family
member/caretaker who is handling your everyday needs we would like to be made
aware of the person you have given permission to add to your records.
Please place in writing your information and sign the notification.
Thank You
Just a Reminder
Stopping at stop signs is very important for our safety. I know we all have fallen victim to a
rolling stop or just blowing through when there is no one there. But as we all know this is a
very unsafe habit to fall into. We as a community need to be aware of our surroundings
and make sure that we are stopping completely at the stops signs and following the speed
limit this goes for golf carts too they must follow the rules of the road as a car would. We
have a lot of walkers and runners here in the community that walk at night etc.

The new pavers have been laid and they
look amazing. With this we ask that you

you can see it damages and breaks them.
HOA NEWS
Our HOA Annual General meeting took place on Saturday, January 16, 2016. There were 282
HOA member households for this meeting. The HOA By-Laws require a quorum of 50% + 1
member households for this meeting to be a legal meeting. That means 142 member households
were required to participate to attain a quorum. We had 141 member households in attendance at
this meeting. We had 41 absentee ballots to include in the total member households. This adds up
to 182 member households that participated in this meeting. This equals 65% of the member
households who participated in the voting. Our HOA Board thanks you for your support and
commitment to vote at our Annual General meeting election.
One objective of this Annual General meeting was to elect 4 nominees to the 2016-2017 HOA
Board of Directors. The nominees that were running for the 2016-2017 HOA Board of Directors
were Lee Edwards, Ron Greene, Barbara Holdridge, John Lynch, Eunice Nichols and Bob
Schutt. The nominees that were elected to fill the four HOA Board seats were Lee Edwards, Ron
Greene, Barbara Holdridge and Bob Schutt. We thank all persons who volunteered to be
nominees for this election.
The second objective of this Annual General meeting was to approve 12 separate amendments to
the HOA By-Laws. The amendments were distributed to all HOA members present at the
December 2015 and January 2016 HOA Tuesday night meetings. Each amendment was
reviewed during these Tuesday meetings. All 12 amendments were passed.
After the Annual General meeting, the 2016-2017 HOA Board of Directors met to elect officers
and committee chairpersons. The board members elected to an office or committee were:
President – Barbara Holdridge
Vice President – Sue Renshaw
Secretary – Bob Schutt
Treasurer – Ron Greene
Social Committee Chairperson – Lee Edwards
Special Event Committee Chairperson – Mike Quartucci
Welcome Committee Chairperson – Becky Todd
We, the 2016 HOA Board of Directors, thank you for your support and encouragement. We look
forward to a challenging and successful 2016.
Thank You!

The Golf Committee
I want to thank everyone that came out and played and also those that worked
so hard to put on the tournament for the Sunshine Committee. They were able to
raise over $2000.00. A real big thanks to everyone.
The ABC Tournament will be on Sunday, Feb 21st. This one is for the local schools
to buy books. The Men's Ryder Cup will be on Sunday Feb 28th. And the Club
Championship will be held on Sat and Sun, March 12th and 13th.
The new cart paths will start sometime next year, maybe after all the snowbirds
leave so there will not be as much traffic on the course. That will make it easier to
get the work done. And the new markers will be in soon as well.
The ropes are down now and we are seeing more of our residents going on the par-
3's where they are not supposed to be. And we are also seeing carts down in the
retention ponds area in the 7th and 8th holes. Ladies and Gentlemen please keep
your carts where they belong.
The election for a new president of the golf association will be held on March 8th
and I would really like to see more residents and golfers there for the election.
Ron Hargrove, Golf Association
ABC Golf Tournament
Sunday, February 21st
11:30 am for a 12 pm start
It's time for our annual golf tournament to raise money to purchase Scholastic
books for the students at Chester Taylor Elementary School. This past December
was my first time attending the book giveaway and it made me feel proud of our
community to be dedicated to this once a year fundraiser. The students were so
happy to be able to pick out a 'for keeps' book.
We are accepting donations for our "baskets of cheer" and Chinese Auction
following golf. Donations can be given to Bett Stiffel, Jeanett Dundas, or myself.
The sign up sheet is located in the ballroom.
Attention All Golfers
There are times due to weather conditions, we need
to close the course.
Just a reminder the course will be closed when
there is frost on the ground and after heavy
rains.
Your full cooperation and understanding is
necessary during these times.
Thank You,
Dave Stemen
